Rideable tanks
I looked through the suggestions and didn't see this so here I go; In real life troops can ride on the side of the tanks for transport. I don't know if the BF2 engine will allow this but can the devs make it where you can ride on the side and not be killed by the movement?

Re: Rideable tanks
Yes,you just hav to add a new pco to the side of the tank, satnav made a version of the tanks where there are 2 seats on the top of the tank's turret,
It will use the same code as the back 3 passengers in a hmmwvin vbf2

Re: Rideable tanks
What's with all the WWII suggestions lately? I'm pretty sure soldiers don't die tank into battle any more.
The only reason you have to do 100 mile jogs is because people abandon the vehicles in the desert.

Re: Rideable tanks
It's possible, as said, Satnav made it and it's in the Allied Intent Xtended mod. However, the wrench could be used on board, possible exploit?

There really isn't a map where a tank could afford to be giving soldiers a lift somewhere.

umm, kashan from main base to south village when the team is fighting over south village. i think it would be a good reason to hop onto the tank.

Re: Rideable tanks
Might be a good idea as long as the passengers cant use weapons. Other wise We would Load tanks up with .50cal gunner drive gunner then a H-AT guy and an AA guy and an engie on it it would be Apocalypse tank with God mode engie fix me hax

Re: Rideable tanks
This has already been done on Airmaps mod, although the extra seat was on the side of an F35-B.
This would be a great thing to have in game to save long walks and guns should be allowed, think realistic, soldiers wouldn't sit on the outside of tanks unprotected, would they? then again would they sit on the outside of tanks??

Re: Rideable tanks
yeah, thats a really good idea. and yes, soldiers really do hitch rides on tanks for long distances. riding on a tank is not a combat scenario. its a logistics scenario.

Re: Rideable tanks
I think it would be a great idea. Granted, some people wouldn't think it's the best idea in the world, and for those people, they don't have to ride on it. But for those of us that really NEED the lift when there is absolutely NO other vehicle in sight, it can be a pretty viable option. As far as being a 1337 tank of death, I'm not sure if you all have played the Halo series or not, but USMC infantry hitching a ride on the tread covers are usually pretty vulnerable. In fact, against snipers, they're consistently and easily picked off. So either way, I don't think it would be unbalanced in either direction.

Re: Rideable tanks
Could be implemented.
Then it's up to you whether you prefer to walk 2 kilometers across a map or hitch a ride on top of a tank while risking your death.

Re: Rideable tanks
Well seats can be added on tanks, bf2 assault mod has it. Hell even can attach seats to the wings of jets from another mod. Problem is tanks and other armor are bullet magnets having seats on a tank would be far worse than sitting in the vbf2 humvee

Re: Rideable tanks
I like it =D
Would also encourage teamwork between the tanks and the infantry rather than the tank just buggering off when you try and give them orders.

Correct, and since we portray logistics in PR that makes this a very valid suggestion.WildBill1337 wrote:yeah, thats a really good idea. and yes, soldiers really do hitch rides on tanks for long distances. riding on a tank is not a combat scenario. its a logistics scenario.

so pretty much you would implement anything related to warfare it if it was possible and if there was a valid explanation for why?
it's like Discrete math haha

Re: Rideable tanks
As long as they figure out a way to keep you from wrenching the tank, and from using AA and HAT, I think it's a good idea. Question is though, how will this affect the tank turning the turret, where are the seats, and how many?

Re: Rideable tanks
I dont know... maybe using a hat on a tank should kill the player...
the wrench should be fine a tank and a command truck are like any other vehicle... =/ only a tank is more of a killer than a command truck, but just like repairing the truck you should be able to repair a tank =/
