Hello from [ZiiP]

Post by [ZiiP]DarkJester »

Hello everyone.

Back when BF2 was still fresh, and PRMM was in it's earlier stages, ZiiP tried out PRMM - and sadly, we didn't adopt it. I guess there was still enough of BF2 to keep us ammused.

Tonight, A group of us downloaded PR again and played on -sas-, and I have to say, what great fun it was.

I loved the fact that the team worked together. I loved the fact that when I called for a medic, someone from the other side of the map fought his way across to fix me before I died of my injurys. Beautiful. The weapons, The sounds... it's like a breathe of fresh air.

I jumped back on my ranked server later on in the evening, and it really shows how much i've grown apart from it. Don't get me wrong - I love BF2, I've clocked (rather sadly) over 750 hours... and now, I feel it really does start bore me - same maps, same unrealism... that pretty much sums it up. It's unrealism disguised as arcade. :P

So anyhow, without waffling on too much, whats the point of this post? - well, just a "hello" initially.. but hopefully you'll see a lot more of us. We'll be getting a PRMM server up by the end of April... and then we'll see what happens from then...

Couple of questions though, What's the ideal size for a server? what do most people play? I was thinking of a 32 man - but if there is a lack of larger servers, we'll try and get one. Or does everyone prefere the closer 16/20 man action?

Right then... it looks like i've got a lot of reading to do on these here forums. Cya all soon hopefully.

hey man and welcome. Glad you like the mod i feel the same way about it. I would say a 32/40 man server is best. I should be getting my clans new Dedicated box tonight (with any luck) and will be hosting anouther PRMM server on it with lots of cool server scrtips and map mods to keep it all blanced 8)

Hope to see you guys arround more and with any luck we can get a scrim going with my clan ;)

16 player maps is best in my opinion.

Best:
16 player Mushater (sp?)
16 player Oman
16 player Karkand
16 player Karkand 2
16 player Steel Thunder
Oasis

Agreed. In general I have always liked between 16 and 30 players on my maps. If it gets too big, you lose the squad aspect - and everybody tries to fend for themselves. It just gets too chaotic.

Glad you're liking PR though! :P I'm enjoying making it as much as you are playing it. :D

Welcome, glad that you guys have come to love this mod like all of us here :-P Also I think that 32-40 seems great, running 32 sized player maps, so we can get some airpower in there :D

I had a Ziip guy in my squad. He played well! Congrats to your clan for adopting PRMM. You'll never look back! :D

cheers for the welcomes. A group of us have been playing on a couple of servers today... -sas- and one other.... erm, "Custom Map something or other"... both were good fun.

I love Oasis... whoever made that needs a pat on the back. Simple but highly effective. I've never had such a spontainious well organised game of BF2 before I played that. 4 of us were scouting, providing cover fire or movement, withdrawing with coverfire, spotting effectively... it was beautiful.

I've noticed that the original maps don't work so well with PRMM.... well, that's not with PRMM itself... but with BF2 players. What I mean is, I'm so used to running around like a nutter on maps like Karkand, that I just get annililated. lol, My fault more than the mod. :P

On maps i've never played before, i'm a lot more.... "thoughtful" about my actions... :P

Cya all around on a server or two.. :P :D

first off welcome to the forums, glad you enjoy this mod as we all do!

you are right about normal BF2 maps, for the most part they really dont work well with PRMM when you have AAS mode on, simply ticket bleed and the maps just not being design to be played like that can be frustrating. my favorite vanillla map was sharqi peninsula, but on prmm it can be a frustrating map because the defending forces have such a head start.

i feel the same way you do, at first the move to prmm was hard, i was well on my way to becomming a first sgt. but when i played prmm about 3 nights in a row, and realized, evvvery night i played i had a cool story to tell the next day about how much fun i had. while when i played vanilla id have a cool story once a week or two.

i dont know where i was going with all this, but welcome.

We're just in the process of starting a 4v4 infantry only league for BF2... but since playing PRMM again, we may well do some adjustment...

do a 6v6 (squad v squad) based one. Better still is a 8v8 infantry as that means you can evan the squads our for attack and defence like we did yesterday :)

@ Riki_Rude_BTYC

nonetheless, makes much sense :p

@ Evilhomer

remember your story, must've been quite intense..
noticed you joined up, im sorry not to have healed you more...kept dying a lot :o ops:

for me, all is new, very intense. keep dying a lot so im working on that. enjoying the maps and learning the system. its like moving to a new neighbourhood  its very positive that the players are mostly preferring mature gameplay rather than the classical bf2 joey public stuff

i think well be up for matches but bare with us a minute or two :m1helmet:

btw there is no chute? silly me smashing my face on the ground about 5 times :d uh:

and what's with the snipers?
