Hi all, this thread is about how to combat the "fastropzspluz" threads.
As you all probably know, the number of people suggesting things like fast ropes hasnt been as high lately, but when threads such as these do arise, it usually leads to flaming, new-users getting driven out and general forums clutter. Also note that when 0.8 and future versions are released, it will generate a tidal wave of "omg it wud b cool n stuf 2 hav, fastrpozzzz"
So I say, when a new user signs up to the forums, just under the bit where it says "I agree to the Terms and Conditions yadda yadda", there is another line saying something like: "I agree that I will not make a thread suggesting the addition of (insert overly suggested feature here)," and maybe something telling them why they can't suggest it.
For added noticism*, make it flash on thei screen, and possible have a tool that blares out McFly songs till they sign the agreement.
This is a semi-serious thread.
* Real word, honest.

+1
HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

I OPPOSE THIS THREAD! If people didn't repeatedly mention fastropes then the R-MODs wouldn't have anything better to do!
Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?

There is no guarantee that someone will read it at all...LordLoss wrote:So I say, when a new user signs up to the forums, just under the bit where it says "I agree to the Terms and Conditions yadda yadda", there is another line saying something like: "I agree that I will not make a thread suggesting the addition of (insert overly suggested feature here)," and maybe something telling them why they can't suggest it.
BTW. You need to read the forum rules as well (especially Section 1, Post Legibly)
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR

Ever heard of "taking the piss"? Theres a lot of it going on in the main post. Also, if you read it carefully, I said that the part about not making fastropes~ threads will be underneath the bit they actually sign, which is the bit that anyone with at least 17 braincells reads.

Personally I think the best way would be, if it can be done that is, for MODs to endorse threads before they end up in the forums. It'd end up with a bit of a lag between creating and been able to see a thread, but less time would be wasted as a result.

Re: Forums Suggestion - User Agreement
1) People break the existing rules, especially people who post the kind of thread you're talking about.
2) There's plenty of information in the suggestion forum about what to and what not to post. Including this information in the user agreement/rules won't really change much
AnRK's suggestion is the one that makes most sense for the suggestion subforum, tbh. Not sure it'll ever happen though, people already tend to think the fourms as a whole are over-moderatored/censored.
