There are a lot of things wrong with the civilians.

Yep. More specialized civi roles would be a nice change.

Gameplay wise, they try to get killed. Not realistic at all, not to mention they have a tendency to outrun the Brits and can exploit the whole thing by staying in the water, preventing the British from "capturing them" and either forced to shoot them or move on. Also being used as a meatshield and not being able to be killed without severe penalties.

What kind of roles? Don't just put it out there.

Okay that I admit is bad.

Well you remember the .5 doctor? It would be nice if we could have someone like that back. A civi doctor would not want to get killed as much, and running around with a medpack out, healing your teammates is a rush.

Also i have a few other ideas but they are not as good.

That sounds perfect, except I'd give them a pistol as well.

Nah. See if he gets a pistol, he will use it as his primary weapon, completely shattering the illusion of him being just another civilian. Rocks and Binocs are enough to fool most brits, And with the Knife he has a backup weapon for when they get too close.

DavidP wrote:Agree and here are some of my ideas.

Cell Leader: Remove the Gp-25, give 4x frags, Add a pistol.(Not enough people go cell leader, Because they most likely don't know about Armor benefit, or as soon as they are going to spawn they will pickup a kit, So they don't care about what kit they spawn in as.)

Insurgent: Increase Molotov count to 4.(More Bang... I mean Burn)

War Vet: Lower the deviation on his AK.(He is supposed to be more experienced anyway)

Ambusher: He needs an overhaul. Too many times ambushes are not successful because of the obviousness of the Ambushers model. I say make him look like a civi, and equip him with a Knife, Rocks, Iedx2, and Binocs. That way Brits will have to be more observant when engaging civies.

Civi: Absolutely Nothing wrong with Civi.

Pick-up Kits

Current.

I think that the Certain Current pick-up kits(As well as some spawn in kits) Should be separated a bit more.

RPG: I think that RPG should be split into 2 kits. Light RPG, and Heavy RPG. Light RPG, Would be the Current RPG except with no binocs, and 1 less rocket.(I mean come on people already use the RPG as an Impromptu assault weapon, after the first shot they abandon it for either an AK or any other available weapon) Heavy RPG, should have No Molotovs but 3 rockets, and keeps his binocs.

Mosin: Nothing wrong with it. Just a field dressing would be nice.

Grail: Look devs I really like what you've done with the Grail in .7, But it's still being abused and misused as an RPG. I think removing it's Molotovs should be a start. And it can't fire till it has a lock-on. Should keep the idiots off the Grails long enough.

Proposed

SVD: Bring it back devs, bring it back, bring it back!

G3: Come on, who else doesn't miss this gun on the streets of basrah! A G3 pickup kit similarly equipped like the Insurgent would be sweet.

SKS: Not really a 'new' kit. But a new implementation for an old favorite. Since the Insurgent team has no real Engineer, how about giving them a Mechanic? Knife, SKS, Wrench. Still can't fix structures, but repairs damaged cars twice as fast.

M16a2: Yeah I know what you're thinking. 'Why give the Insurgents an M16? Don't they already have enough?' And the answer is no they don't! Insurgents are supposed to wield a variety of different weapons. So why not give them an M16 variant? Could be minimally equipped(3 slots), and it would be a good balanced counter to the Brits L85's. Same range and Damage as the L85, but with iron sights only it would be alot harder, for the Insurgents to wield.(Hell restrict to semi-auto only, It would make it more of a specialty weapon)

Grenadier: With the GP-25 removed from Cell Leader. Why not make it a pick-up kit? That way if a good grenadier wants to grenadier enemies, Why should he have to become a Squad Leader or commander if they want a Grenade Launcher.

Civilian

If Civilian only pick-up kits are possible. I would really love to see the civilian class diversified more.

I had suggested a while back that the insurgents get a wider variety of weapons as pickup kits -- including SKS insurgent, FAL insurgent, G3 insurgent, etc.

I would delete the Mosin and replace it with SVD´s or scoped AK/S-47 like they realy have in Iraq for example.

Archer..i dont know SVD´s maby ,but this map is not ready yet, cuz it supposed too be Canadians on that map.

IMO, civilan fix wouldnt even be too difficult:

1. Give heavy punishment for being killed.
2. If somehow codable, make them legit targets after they have thrown a rock at someone.

Then you wont have suicide-civvies juming around brits and throwing rocks at them anymore, because they would a) not want to be killed anymore and b) could be killed, if they behave hostile.

1. One of the reasons for the quick spawn was to further penalize a Brit who mindlessly shot civis. He knew he got an added 60 seconds, and the civi was back in just a few moments. I disagree with the whole "Civis should be punished for death" as the Human Shield idea actually is the closest thing we can get to insurgents hiding in a crowd, unless you know how to code it so there are tons of bot civis everywhere.

2. I hope it's possible to make civis legit targets if they kill a brit, but for no other reason.

Simply just make civies die when they get in water (if its codable to make em drown). Would change the mind of a civie thinking water will save him (and even add a penalty)

And yea i agree about more Ins kits. Insurgents IRL (AFAIK) got more G3's and SKS's than AK's

1. Okay, i see your point. But still, i think i'd rather have a brit who knows the civ is away for another minute than civs just wanting to die... I just dont think this is what can be called realistic gameplay.
2. In my opinion throwing heavy rocks at someone is reason enough. If the brit is already killed its kinda... too late to do something. You wouldnt wait till your buddy is down before you shoot at those guys beating him to death :/ I'd say: Rock thrown: 10 seconds hostile Brit killed: 60 seconds hostile. After that he either escaped in some hole or the brits shooting at him couldnt hit the a house in front of them..

about the human shield stuff... As long as the civ didnt throw a rock, the brit would still be punished for shooting at him. The punishment for the brit should of course be worse than for the civilian who got killed.

Or you make it so that only authorized kills give the civilian long spawntime and maybe minus points.

Means if he throws rocks at someone and get shot, its bad for him. If he's peaceful but get shot, its bad for the brits.

A bit off topic, but what's the point of safe zones...? Why shouldn't the MEC for example, be able to raid the carrier on Gulf of Oman? Gameplay I'm guessing?

Uh... so you've never stood on the Essex's deck whilst round after round of APC fire and helicopter 30mm cannon splashes around you?

Seriously, it may be unrealistic as hell to have a dome of death around certain flags but the alternative is just hideous.
