'[R-DEV wrote:Masaq;766117']I need to try this sometime, just for giggles:

Take an officer's kit.
Load up a Merlin with squad members.
Have the copilot drop the ramp.
Have the pilot hover very very steadily.
From the F7 seat, exit the Merlin so I'm standing inside.
Stand near the ramp.
Drop a rallypoint on the ramp...
...and have the pilot fly off.

Voilá, RP in the sky :D
Been done already.
Me and another guy (sorry cant remember his name) deployed a bunker and a command post using that method 3000 meters up in the sky.

Might be hard to see, but thats a bunker and a command post seen from below from a typhoon. ooh and theres a command truck that just spawned thats falling to the ground.

I'm not a big fan of rally points. It just seems cheesy when people just appear from any ridiculous position many rallies are placed many times. You see a bunch of guys keep coming out of some absurd location like some sort of clown car. It doesn't really simulate RL IMO. I would be happy just spawning from firebases/bunkers though even that it stretching "reality" pretty far as those things are not constructed during combat and in under 3 minutes. I think unarmed APCs and or similar troop carrier vehicles which everybody could spawn from would be a good approximation of RL dynamic reinforcements/advancement of troops and of course captured objectives could be spawnable as well.

Here there is one more who doesn't like it.
I remember a map where I saw a rally point inside a swimming pool that we were never able to destroy it, even by throwing nades to it.

Well I like rally's, remember they dont represent spawn point but the real life ammount of troops. In fact, when you respawn, you shouldnt think of your second life, but as a new soldier thats just been brought in. Rally Points are a nice gamefactor that keeps it tense and tactical. Think about it. When you just took over a flag, they just keep coming at you from the RP. You gotta take that down or else you might lose the flag. If they needed to spawn back at the main it would have been easy to trash an enemy team. ( I know theres firebases and bunkers but those things are found to easy )

I play on T&T well... Quite a bit... lol

Rally points in trees I ain't too keen on and the Rally point "jump" is a total glitch so that ain't allowed

However when it comes to placing RPs the more random the better I say :P Under things, over things in between things... One of my favs is sliding down a hill to place a rally by a tree, hard to see, not neccesarily an exploit but every time you try n knife it you slide off...
So therefore you have to use nades, fire shots etc. all very noisy and will give you away so I can run off to place a new one :D

LOL.. what a bunch of moaning minnies!

How on earth is placing a rally on a tree stand, or on the edge of the map exploiting the game? Sure they may not be the smartest places, but so what.

People going on about how its unrealistic... wake up smell the coffee.. IT'S A GAME, NOTHING is really realistic in it. Nothing. Sure it's an attempt, and a very good one, to make a realistic version of BF2.. but this is still a galaxy away from reality! You simply can't talk about the spawn system and reality in the same sentence. Moan about unrealistic recoil, or flight dynamics.. but not the spawn system... just sounds ridiculous. You can't have a realistic spawn system.

In this game squad leaders will do, and should do whatever they can to hide their rallies. And having rallies away from the fight is a good tactic. Where do you want them to place them?. on the road leading from the enemy base??

Cookie for the most creative rally! I say roll on the fancy rally. Normally there is no challenge in finding the enemy rally... you tell me where you saw a enemy squad moving and I'll put a marker within 10m of their rally, just about any map, and any squad leader.

oh! you can do the same thing with the grapple ropes. you drop them on the edge of the ramp and let everyone slide out. i saw it in a youtube video but can no longer find it :(

I think placing rallys at treetops is stupid, nobody will never find it there....

You can an rpg takes one out. One time I waited for a squad to rally around their rp and took it out with the hat.
