Rig Enemy Vehicles?
I had this idea while playing today that it would be pretty cool if the Ambusher could rig enemy vehicles so that when an enemy got in the vehicle or moved it (I don't care which one), the vehicle would explode. It would be different from the IED, and they could get like 1-2 of them.
I could definately see Insurgents doing this to enemy vehicles if they could get close enough. It would also help to teach people not to randomly abandon vehicles to come back to them later.

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
Would they be able to do it if the vehicle had someone in it(and they got lucky enough to sneak up on), if this is possible, it would raise the alertness of anyone who faces the brits. Just like the suggestion for multi-color suicide cars.

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
I think the IED itself can accomplish this well enough. Often times I will play as an ambushers and hunt for abandoned vehicles and leave the bombs under them waiting for British soldiers to come along and use it. I think rigging vehicles is a tad gamey and can already be accomplished by tools in the game already.

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
I don't really see how it's gamey. If you were an insurgent, and you saw no enemies around, and you happened to have some explosives, wouldn't you rig your bomb up to the car's battery? Also, it's great and all to sit around and wait to hope that the Brits will come back to their vehicle, but about 1/2 the time they don't. I guess this idea could be replaced by proximity IEDs, which already exist in PR (but for some reason aren't used).

Devices like this don't exist in real life. Just put an antivehicle mine on it/under the track

Now its like grand theft auto
lol, in real life military vehicles arent just left alone in the desert and then come back to whenever the men feel like it, if at all. Besides, like someone said, just use an IED under it and wait. if you cant be asked to wait, then oh well.
waiting is half the fun, manually blowing up a full squad about to get into their transport is the other half.

Yeah, but it's already like that. That's like saying we shouldn't be able to destroy rallies because there aren't spawn points in real life.[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote:lol, in real life military vehicles arent just left alone in the desert and then come back to whenever the men feel like it, if at all.
I don't see anything wrong with rigging a vehicle.
This just gave me another idea, it would be cool if we could string wire across the street to kill gunners who aren't ducking.

i can personally rig a door that when opened would set off a can of gassoline...not that i have or will, it's really not that hard if you think about it.[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote:Totally disagree, even more so than riding on tanks

i mean all you really have to do is rig the the "object to be moved" in one position that would allow you to have a wire attatched to it, that wire then goes through a hole in a tube, within the tube would be a compressed spring behind a pin/nail of some sort, so that when the object is moved, the tensioned wire would be released and allow the spring to drive the pin forward into the ****** *** and setting off the explosive/flamable material.
if you bothered to concider everything i've said, everything can be prepared ahead of time and set up really fast

Ive "rigged" empty command vehicals with IED's before (crawl under the vehical and place the IED), works just fine

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
Proximity IEDs exist in the game files (like objects zips) for PR, but I don't know their condition or how they work (if at all).
Also, waiting is not half the fun, while you're waiting for some squad to come to their vehicle, most of the team has moved up to your cache and destroyed all the bridges. (Basrah)
Next, of course military vehicles aren't just abandoned in the desert in real life, these devices would teach people to not just abandon their vehicles in the desert (which a lot of people do in PR).
Finally, apparently Bringerof D can do this all quite fast, but I wouldn't mind of the rigging took a while. (10-20 sec.s in game, sounds good)
I wouldn't mind having mines instead, but I thought using explosives in an improvised fashion would just be more like an Insurgent to do. Also, mines are too obvious to a squad coming back to their truck.

Disagree, insurgency isn't meant to be a normal battlefield.[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote:Totally disagree, even more so than riding on tanks
That's REALLY gamey.
A prime example of devices used like this is an insurgency type conflict would be the use of IEDs on British vehicles in northan Ireland. It got to the point where a full check would have to be done on the vehicle if left untended for any period of time!
@OP, they would have to have a visible trait of them being attached though (like c4 attached to a car), so if a soldier is smart enough to check it could be detected.

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
I never said insurgency was normal gamepaly, I said letting them rig cars is gamey. Gamey as in something youd put in Vbf2 for the spec ops kit. Use IED's. All that would be needed to make your suggestion already in-game would be to have IEDs stick to vehicles [cuz I think now they just fall through? dont remember though] And Id be fine with that.Ecko wrote:Disagree, insurgency isn't meant to be a normal battlefield.

Im for putting IEDs onto cars, like crawling under and slapping one on, but Im not big on you simulating like, opening the hood, connecting the wires to the car, etc. Thats just too much for something that in gme shouldnt be that readily available to due [mainly time constraints and you wouldnt be able to tell it had been done]
Meh...

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
However in this game that is EXACTLY what happens. In fact this very suggestion would actually encourage the sensible use of assets, and hence would go some way to mimic real life...just in the way as is descibed in this quote.[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote: lol, in real life military vehicles arent just left alone in the desert and then come back to whenever the men feel like it, if at all.
So meh, I support this suggestion.

Re: Rig Enemy Vehicles?
Yeah, that's another thing we really need. I'm seriously tired of the IEDs not sticking to vehicles. Also, I guess I wouldn't have a problem if you could stick the IED to the car because then you could just walk away and blow it later.
Awesome Okita, thank you for finding the compromise.
