Press t? wut? I don't have any key bound to that. I can't remember the control that was assigned to t by default. I think it might have been 'squad' commo rose but not sure.

So basically, kinda try to request a kit from the mine to place the map designated marker? I've seen them knocking about on the map but have rarely placed mines myself since insurgency back in .6

Really? using the 'team' commo rose? conflicting responses here, I'm off to see for myself...

It's on Q smeg, T brings up the Kit Request as always. Can PR do the FH2 thing where mines are half burried and include little mine flags?

But it's also a good thing if the guy is doing it on purpose, so you can punish.
Problem is, if you don't do it on purpose, and still get punished.

I've got alot of respect for people that go engineer in infantry squads, I don't think they need any credit taking away from them.
let me rephrase, sorry i wasnt clear. i meant it should not count directly as a kill score, they should get score for the kills but it should not count in your kill counter.

anyways yes regular points should of course be rewarded. just no kill count for it

Is it possible not to punish the engineer who placed the mine of the mine markers are there? So, markers = punish the driver, no markers = punish the engineer.

honestly, I wish there was a way to make mines team sensitive, but that simply isn't realistic. Whether it's engineers not marking their mines or drivers just being stupid, trucks full of good squad mates are being fragged by friendlies every day, every round. I say, don't punish anyone, cause you just never can be sure who to blame. Besides, death and a long respawn time is more than enough for the stupid driver who ran directly into the red "death" sign on the minimap, if thats the case...

I think the DEVs taking punishment away from either party is the best solution. They can squabble about it afterward, anyone who feels someone needs punishing for something unintentional/down right stupid is a very petty individual. If it's a continual problem with intentional TKs then that can be resolved as usual.

I don't know what to think about this poll, mine kills are such a mixed bunch with some being such complete stupidity by the engineer but at other times its the driver who ignores both the markers and text warnings....

I don't think anyone should be punished really because alot of the time it is just a mistake and people by and large say sorry for there actions when mine tks occur (at least the ones I’ve seen).

if its a marked mine in the map the driver should be punished, other day in TCombat my clanmate put a mine and marked in the map, the lazy driver dont saw (or saw and dont care) and boom, 3tks and the 3 idiots in the car punished my friend... its not his fault, there is two entrances in this flag, one of them is marked as mined and the driver choose the marked entrace to enter... so if its marked the driver must be punished.

edit... I am still trying to figure out how to mark the mines. As I say that, I wonder what is the benefit of a team placed mine that is not marked? Is there a situation where I don't want my teammates to know about a mine they might run over? I can understand the realism aspect (floating red skull/crossbone), so why not remove marking all together? Of course, let us pat a little sand or grass around the dang thing to hide it! ; )

I suppose it could be that some tards look for the mine symbol in order to hurt their team mates?

Lay Prone, wip out your mine and press Q. Click, and you have marked it on the map.

yeah, mines and other explosive type traps should be neutral that way no one gets punished for stupid teammates. It also makes the most sense, you wouldnt know how many people died by your mine anyway and should only count towards decreasing tickets

possible soultion to idiots mining vehicles at main would be in create a code which does not allow a mine to be placed within 10-15 meters of any vehicle. realistically you cant just throw a mine under a car and expect it to blow when someone gets in and starts the engine anyways.

I knoe this is old, but leave it to the admins when it comes to a lot of punishing and things, the devs fixed this issue a bit with the TK and medic kit issue which was really annoying, but its still a problem with some things like crewman.

I think that no one should be punished if someone in your team gets killed my your mine some reasons for that are no mine markers or they don't look at there mini-map so no one should be punished.

Driver should be punished. 90% of the times I see somebody getting TK'd by a mine is when they drive over a mine that not only is blatantly obvious in the middle of the road but it is also marked in the map.

Most of the times there's a retard/head-in-the-clouds-guy behind the wheel. Blame him.

Problem is that you can only have 3 mine markers and lay more then 3 mines , thats half the problem. If we could lay more then 3 mine markers ( say expand the limit to 30 ) then this current problem will be halved. But however we can't have more then 3 mine markers because of hard-coding

Due to it being the fault of different parties in different scenarios you have to punish neither of them. For example, if the owner plants the mine and doesn't mark it, it's his fault; if he does mark the mine and the driver doesn't look at the map and runs over it it's his fault.

In both of the above scenarios both of them shouldn't be punished; however in the second scenario the owner is unfairly punished.

As you can't get down to that level of detail the only logical thing to do is punish neither of them. It's as simple as that.
