Disagree to a certain extent, if the vehicle is in perfect condition, than absolutely not. But if it's dammaged, destroying it is fine. It's done in RL to protect the technology of the vehicle from falling into wrong hands.Spec_Operator wrote:It is very gamey to destroy vehicles so they respawn. I hate it. Please, dont decrease the time a vehicle can stay somewhere before blowing up. Rather get the players to protect their vehicles. Stop using them as one-way taxis. Rather walk. If you use them, dont leave them, keep them. They can be useful if protected.

There are plenty of vehicles around and firbases spawn additional vehicles. I think its fin if a squad nabs a humvee. On the one map where the tow humvee is avaiable extensive transport is avaiable as well, so that it shouldnt be an issues to delegate the tow humvee to a 2 man team seen as how the rest of the squad can hitch rides on apcs little birds etc.

Okay, i see this point. But i was talking about blowing up vehicles just so you dont have to drive back, and about the annoying auto-blowing vehicles.Ecko wrote:Disagree to a certain extent, if the vehicle is in perfect condition, than absolutely not. I want to be able to put my vehicle in a safe spot and return a minute later without finding a wreck.
And blowing it up so it respawns faster is just like commiting suicide so you respawn at the RP and dont have to walk. Just a vanilla thing. I'm glad the PR Dev's made the vehicles stay in one piece a bit longer.
Personaly, if there were no lag problems and no idiots blowing stuff up or hiding it for fun, i'd put a limited, fixed amount of vehicles in the base, period. No respawn, no limited life-time.
(Not a suggestion cause a) that would be more networkable objects than possible and b) someone would blow it up... and c) The bases are too small for that lol)

Re: Abandoning vehicles question/discussion
Give a crapload of points for killing abandoned vehicles maybe? It doesn't effect gameplay at all or who wins or loses except that vehicle gameplay will work more smoothly and it gives the individual a personal reason to kill it for more points and a higher score position.EOD_Security-2252 wrote:Airsoft, are you suggesting we use a common courtesy policy and blow up abandon enemy vehicles we find? I usually don't do it because I'm mean like that, but that's sounds like a nice idea.

Re: Abandoning vehicles question/discussion
I tend to leave my Hummvee or Vodnik parked 30-40m away from my RP, or on large maps right next to it.
Then if my squad are wiped out attacking, or pushed off a flag defending, or if it's clear that the RP is about to be compromised we can hop in the vehicle and get the hell out of dodge. We then use the vehicle until it's destroyed or until we're force out of the area by RP destruction or overwhelming enemy force. Even then, the vehicle will usually be used as a last-ditch effort to get out of the area by someone.
That's when I'm using vehicles. Most of the time, on any map other than Kashan or Qinling, I walk and my squad walk with me.

Re: Abandoning vehicles question/discussion
Double post ( sorry mods, but this is just to show the people I did my first Experiment
)
I just came from a game on TacticalGamer.com playing Ejod dessert. I made a squad, locked it for myself and called it Truck Taxi.
I said in teamchat that I was gonna function like the transport squads but than as a taxi. I got some laughs and winks and [TG] Inastateoftran said: You can pick up the body's.
Oddly enough, there where 2 full squads leaving US base on foot. I drove in between them and 1 decided to hop in. Set them off at Gardens so they could cap it already. Made my way back to the other squad that set up camp a bit northeast of gas-station. They were digging in and didnt want a ride. Back to main for me. There were some random guys there so I picked up 3 and set them of in the city. Too bad we didnt have a CO so I was just ferrying groups of 2 to 3 people from main to city during the first half of the game. One time I believe Tran requested crazyzombie ( he meant me ) to repair his APC. Set out and repaired it.
Halfway trough the game we got a CO. I was happy 'cause I could test this out. CO could take in pick-up requests and relay them to me. Furthermore I could him help out build firebases/bunkers. It worked out okay. The game was going pretty well so I didnt need to pick up a full squad that just lost there rally to an enemy assault. So Im just going to try this one or two more times. But the overal feeling I got was: A bit useless. Because the trucks spawned in again there was a time the squad leader of sqd3 spawned at main ( while I was there and they still had a rally ) just to grab the truck and race to city for a bunker. ( thats my job
) Near the end our CO understood what I was doing and started working together with me.
So like I said before: Overal idea of a dedicated transport squad: People will grab there own wheels because they dont have to use text for directions ( I think ) Could be handy for the CO to have a Commtruck at the ready with a shovel in it.
But I'll try this experiment a few more times. I think when I log in again this evening.

Re: Abandoning vehicles question/discussion
If you're not intentiding to fully use your jeep asking for a transport from a chopper/APC/truck is always a good start. If you're lucky there's a transportaion sqaud as someone mentioned earlier.
One thing someone else also mentioned earlier was that you'll most likely get blown up by a LAT/HAT or something when using a jeep, they're too vulnerable. I'd say people are rushing too much and not being patient enough. Sneeking upon flags is vital at times. I can see this would be hard in city maps but in a landscape of hills and trees your jeep with a .50 cal could be real usefull. As long as you take it easy, being patient and not just rushing out in the open terrain to get to the flag ASAP. By rushing you'll most likely get blown up by that AT either on the way there or when you've just arrived. Let your .50 cal remain on a good spot where he can overlook the area your squad will advance through as well as the surroundings where the enemy possibly could be. If the enemy reveals itself the gunner engages them, pinning them down (not nessecerily killing them but rather suppressing them) and the infantry can somewhat safely get to the flag or if the SL wants engage the enemy infantry on close range.
About CO trucks I think they're too valuable to just use as a one way transport, then I'd walk instead. It doesn't take too long to walk on most maps, and who knows, sometimes it might be even better to move slow than fast.
