Hover Button for attack helo's?

Post by Boommelonshot »

I think that a hover button should be added to the helicopters so it can make the gunners more efficient! I think there is a hover button in ARMA.

It's not that hard to hover without any fancy buttons. Just stop and level it, it hovers by itself. Only requires tap on w ones in a while to keep the altitude. Go practice on local server and you'll see how easy it is.

There's no need for hover magic buttons in PR ;)

Although gunner stabilizers have been looked into...

This is where the last conversation on attack helo gunner stabilizers went:
[R-DEV]Mosquill wrote:But I've tried! I was working on it for weeks, and I failed. Stabilization is still very bugged. It's not difficult to put it on choppers, but it doesn't help much anyway.

Well last time i spoke to [R-DEV]Mosquill and that is not too long ago he said he would talk to the [R-DEV]Flyboy about it, cant remember his name sorry..

Me and alex6714 had a test with it. It worked quite well not too good but it helped :) .

Worked quite well?? Not too good??

On a scale of 0-10, 0 being the current no-stabilizer, 10 being ultra stable & realistic, how would you say it was?

Surely even a little help from something like this'll be worth it, no?

well seeing as how its the hovering part that gets you killed i think we need better gun stabilization instead of this. But if gun stabilization isn't possible hell i'l take this better then nothing.

BTW sis you guys hear that the lock-om range for an AA is gonna be 2 km now? its insane i wonder if they are gonna balance it somehow or just once again cripple air vehicles.

in my opinion a hover button is a bad idea....helicopters are hands on machines!

Im with marko, gun or view stabilisation, not autohover....

Why take away the little skill you need to fly the helicopters? Just train and you will be able to hover with no problem.

Well about 5 out of 10 because you will probably still need to hover to get the shot. Think about it as a shock-absorber you get a more smooth screen. :)

You basically can make a macro (yes a macro) to always make a good liftoff. But whats the fun with that.

Sounds good to me, I think I may have seen a vid...Mosquill had a kinda interest, How far did DEV talks go? When you remember [R-DEV]Flyboys hame, I'd love to hear what they thought of the tests. I'd love to have a go myself.

I'm guessing a 'hover button' isn't possible and were kinda hi-jacking this thread, I'm gonna go dig up that last discussion...

Well we weren't going to implement it... but since you're saying it helps.. I guess I'll talk to Cas about it, maybe we'll use it after all.

So he would talk about it with [R-DEV]CAS_117 the one i meant.
I dont know what they did with it.

But here's the file try it for your self :)

put it into: mods\pr\objects\objects_server_patch.zip\vehicles\ air\ahe_ah1z (replace the original)

But you will need someone to host a local game because it wont work on your own local server..

Try it with Hamachi.

No it wont work. Stabilization wont work on your own local server. If you join someone else's local server it would work just fine. I know strange bug...

It's already too easy, I fly like once in two months on PR and can still perfectly hover and do tons of random tricks and I only use my keyboard+mouse.
