OK so BF has a special points system, Id like to see it implimented kinda like this.
5 points for a flag cap/Completing an objective
2 points for killing someone
-1 point for dieing
-10 points for tking(punishment should be harsh!)
since I dont know how the healing/repairing points work I will leave them out.
Flags, these should be worth most to encourage getting flags and working as a team to get that bundle of points into your score.
Kills should be worth 2 points every time you kill someone.
-1 point for dieing. IRL when you die you get a much more severe punishment than -1 point, I think its necasary to deter people from running around like theyre in rambos to get good scores.
-10 for tking, dont tk or all your hard work goes down the drain.

I am not too comfortable with individual points at all. Points should be awarded to the TEAM as a whole. That will encourage teamwork more than anything. This is not a new idea in any way but one I think could "revolutionize" fps games.
Games today rewards every player individually making some players screw their own teams over just to rack up a high score and get their stats on line so they can brag about how blooming great they are and how much everyone else sucks.
With a points system that awards only the team teamwork becomes if not essential, at least it will be very important for the team to climb any tournament ladder.
To award individual players a system where the team and/or clan (a clan can have more than one team can't it?) can suggest single players or entire teams for citations awarding said players or teams for actions performed in a game. Those citations could then be shown together with the teams place in any tournament ladder. The citations themselves should have NO effect on the team score but could provide an incentive for individual players to perform "above and beyond the call of duty".
Hope that makes some sense...

Now there is a really good idea
, it would definately encourage teamwork, perhaps with the new ranking system, that system could also be linked more with the players team performance, rather then individual kills, ie. responding to calls for repairs/medic/reinforcements, firing arty when called for, responding to calls for air support. How all that could be coded I don't know, but there's bound to be some way to do it
.
It would still be good for players to still be able to see their individual statistics though, like level of accuracy, most used class/vehicle, kills etc. However don't give them individual points for those things, it's simply as a means for them to get a better idea of their performance, as even friendly rivalry amongst team-mates has always been a good insentive to make players want to improve themselves.
