Project Reality Javelin Trick! No Javelin is Needed!

Post by waldo_ii »

Seriously, a buddy and I found this while we were messing around on the IGI training server. It is a method of using a SRAW or an ERYX in a way similar to the Javalin (The top-down attack). Watch and learn.

And I thought this was a blatantly obvious technique. Been using it since the kits were nerfed. How is this not common knowledge?

Yup, hold down the mouse button and drag it, just like vanilla.

yea i used to do this in vanilla too, the only thing is i cant see this working at all unless the tank is miles away like in the vid, due to the mach 90 speed of the missiles.

speaking of which, i really wish the DEVs would slow the missiles down, i highly doubt they go that fast in real life.

oh they do go that fast, but the problem is in r/l they accelerate over a period of time. Where ingame, they have basically reach top speed as soon as they are fired which is due mainly down to engine limitations afaik. If we had a nice acceleration curve like in r/l would be much better :)

I'm so anxious when using the weapon, if I miss, the team's really messed up. Maybe it's only feasible against Insurgents in Basrah and their little hidey holes. :p

Will consider, thanks for the vids.

It's Javelin.

/grammar nazi

Also, the issue with guiding the missile like that is the fact that after a certain distance you can't see it anymore and you have to guess where it is by the tracer, not to mention the high speed.

I guess you have to be really far away because of the instant highspeed. Did you test this in a few distance "settings"?

And I havent been HAT very much but I always assumed this would still be possible yeh! ( the steering )

I do this all the time. Its in some cases even needed as the missile will drop abit after the launch.

You don't actually need to hold down your fire button to guid the rocket.
