I really don't know if you can classify this as a bug but I just started back up playing and this still exists. I went around a corner on Sunset and this guy pops out and I think we were both surprised and to my amazement he goes insta prone and puts 3 in my face. I thought for a second that I was playing vanilla. Is this going to be sorted for .8?
Again not a bug but I do know that you have taken measures against this and so that is why I'm posting here.

yes, this gets really annoying when you get head shotted, even when you took the enemy by suprise.

The actual insta-proning can't be fixed: it is partially realistic, just the part where you can hold up your sights and shoot doing it isn't.
The counter measures are weapon deviation, but if you haven't noticed, all weapons are pretty much too accurate anyway, so don't be surprised when getting shot to **** by instaproners since prone position gives more accuracy.

I guess I meant more like dolphin diving. The guy went from completely standing running to a lying position and shot me while in the roll. That is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. Hopefully in BF3 this will be null and voided. In BFBC you can't lie down so it eliminates this altogether.

Re: Insta prone issues.
No, you were right with the previous term.
This is called insta-proning (dive down and shoot instantly).
Dolphin diving would be jump, dive down and shoot.
Yes, you are right, this is annoying and everybody hates it (and who doesn't uses it).
Unfortunately with the BF2 engine you can't add a delay before you can fire, nor you can make your shots deviated after going prone

Yeah I figured as much because the deviation never seems to happen from the instaproner, crouch and fire 2-3 rounds into a person as they prone and nothing happens except you die.

The side roll is a 3p animation, in first person you don't see your head spinning around or anything and you're free to shoot, it's done by strafing left/right and going prone.Hauler wrote:The guy went from completely standing running to a lying position and shot me while in the roll.

A new deviation model and scope-in animations have virtually eliminated the effectiveness of insta-prone shooting in PRv8.

^^^ Yeah, not quite gone but it's pretty damn close. It's hella funny to stay standing, scope in on a guy as he hits the deck and watch his shots whistle around you as you start placing them into him... damn divers.
