m16 first person sounds

m16 first person sounds

anyone who has ever fired an m16 or m4 knows that the sounds currently in the mod for first person are terribly out of whack. when you fire the real steel you do not hear a crisp clear crack as you do in the mod. in reality when you fire the weapon you hear the buffer spring in the weapon getting the **** kicked out of it. would it be possible to change the sounds for the person firing the weapon but keep the current sound for everyone else?

it would be cool, and i'd want it, but...i dont think it's worth the time compared to everything else the devs are doing

wtf are you talking about? Go to a gun range and record sounds its not like this will take a month to do.

considering the devs mostly live in europe, i dont think it's as easy to get access to an M16 as it is in america, or for that matter any firearm. in most places you hafta go through alot of paperwork, not just scream out the fact that it's their right to bear arms.

You'd have to find a gun range. And an M16. I dont even know if its legal wherever the devs responsible for sounds are. And then there would probably be too much background noise, and they wouldnt have recording gear of enough quality.

But thats just me guessing.

M16 sound it actually quite realistic. The pistols need work on though as they need to be more of a boom.

Is the AR-15 close enough to the M-16 for accurate sound samples?

I could get access to a straight-pull modified M4/16 (not sure which, 16 I THINK), but sound recording on an open, windy range...no chance.

the sounds as you hear it from 30 feet away is good. but as the shooter its innacurate. you dont hear a crack when you fire the weapon yourself. you hear the internals working and the buffer spring getting compressed and then you hear the spring push forward.

M16s don't sound like a dog barking.
They make a pop sound just like every other gun.

from 5 ft, but it has a different sound when your firing it yourself

I think that the sound is important when it comes down to the game. Its always the small things that make the game what it is. Im sure most people would agree.

I have personally exchanged e-mails with Charles Maynes (Field Recorder for Black Hawk Down and the Call of Duty Series) on how to best go about weaponry recording with the limited equipment I have. However, I'm not even going to bother until I have a better pre-amp and a better PT Interface.

Ideally, I'd want to record gunshots analogue (to tape). I had a lecture in college that was all about field recording. They told us that if we're ever going to record gunshots, we should rent an analogue tape recorder for the job.

Bottom line, I'll definitely look into a few PR field recording sessions once I have the right gear. Like EG said, I currently live in Texas so finding assault rifle owners shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Wrong, infact its easy, just goto bisley shooting club, or goto a british armoury.

The MOD (Where i goto cadets anyway) train with the L85A2, MP5A4, AK-47 and M16A2/A4 incase they have to improvise.
