Shoot weapons

Post by 99lynx »

I was browsing through the list of previously suggested topics...

What about the ability to shoot your enemy's weapons out of thier hands, or damage thier weapon.

Maybe the first hit takes off the scope, and the second hit knocks it out of thier hands.

Maybe if your weapon gets hit then you lose all ability of automatic firing even in the case of LMGs.

Engineers can fix the weapons with his wrench...

No. lol....

Probably hardcoded anyway... pretty sure you cant just update someones kit to have a crapped out rifle or make them drop their kit, etc.

Just dont like the idea anyway :P

That happens in a mod for HL2 called "Resistance and liberation" its kind of annoying. I think that this wouldnt be possible with the BF2 engine but Im not sure im not an expert. BTW its not possible to fix the weapon with a wrench.

I reckon this is hardcoded, and even if it wasn't he only time i would want to see this ingame is if a grenade or some sort of explosion went of near you and mabey knocked you over and blew your gun out of your hands.

I would also bet hard coded, but its not realistic any way. If one shot hits your weapon the next couple will most likely be hitting you. And no soldier would drop his weapon unless he had lost the ability to carry it which means he's most likely wounded and need medical attention.

The suggestion is not without the merit of realism, but for gameplay and hardcodedness it is not good :D

it reminded me a little of this clip,

Kinda reminds me of cheesy movies/shows, where a tiny rock can disarm warriors/soldiers and make them drop their swords/weapons.

Not sure if it's possible in the BF2 engine.

But now seriously. From all i've heared and read, guns dont get damaged by enemy fire that often. And even if they are hit, i'd think that the damage would not be too extreme. Not worth including imo.

About dropping the gun; You've got a sling for a reason. And even if you drop the gun, it shouldnt be too much of a problem to just pick it up again, wont make a real difference. The suppression effect is enough to simulate any kind of trouble you'd get from incoming fire.
