Practice piloting on a local server LOTS before going for it
As for knowing the tactics and skills and so forth of what a Sniper can do a LOT of people say that when really they've heard basics such as relocating etc etc (My fav trick whilest on the subject is wounding a player, waiting for his medic, then blowing his head off) My father was a sniper instructer during his career at one point and even I hardly ever bother with the kit
Pr is a lot more about playing with other memebers of your team, a good sniper will sit for ages not taking a single shot and just giving recon on enemies so we can do the dirty work, occaisionally he'll pop out a medic, H-AT or an SL but a good sniper is mainly recon
The most fun you'll have is joining a Teamwork, TG, VOIP Eng, TW, or TACTEAM squad and following the orders of your SL
Remember you are NOT a Duckling, so dont follow in a straight line towards every thing, Ask your SL for permission to engage if it's first contact with the enemy... If you're a support gunner watch the squad and lay down support fire on the enemies line of fire, If you're a medic dont go charging in first And so on
If you're securing a flag check your squadmates arcs of fire and secure the gap
Welcome to a whole new level
