'[R-DEV wrote:ghosty']Whats your background? do you have first hand experience in this? If so post some more pics... I would like to learn more about this vehicle.

I was in a Stryker Brigade Combat Team in Iraq. 1st brigade, 25th Infantry Division. 1st Bn, 24th Infantry Reg. It was a GREAT vehicle. Survived everything that was thrown at it, except for tank rounds. I'll try and get more up, i'm gonna catch up on this thread. I moved back to Ky and it was a LONG drive!

ok i've kinda caught up.

I just kinda like the idea because it allows players to stay out of the hatches, and all 4 have to work together to keep the vehicle safe. Instead of having some dude in a turret blasting everything in sight.

It fits up to 11 people pretty comfortably. And that's with full battle rattle on everyone, and boxes upon boxes of ammunition, gear, anti-tank rockets, and whatever else you can think of.

Anymore questions, i'll be happy to answer. As for survivability, yes, it's great. My BN has been attacked by 60 suicide car bombs, two have died as a result. Survived a triple stack anti-tank mine. Survives IED's, RPG's, and small arms. We even had a few 60mm's dropped on us and it didn't do much.

What's it feel like when an RPG hits?

You don't really feel anything. Just a loud "whoosh" noise followed by a loud explosion.

that was under a direct hit???
i guess the slat panel did the job allright, although i wonder what would happen if the round impacted directly without the slat panel.

That's why this game needs a seperate seat position for driver and for gunner like Joint Operations has. Sure someone can drive off alone and switch to gunner seat when needed, but they sure wouldn't last long.

Vehicles definitely need seperate driver and gunner positions (like the HMMWV).

That was under several direct hits. Without the slat panel, I kinda wonder myself, and I don't like to think about it. :-?

Those are direct hits by SVBIED's. ^^^^^

^^^^^A 1500 pound truck bomb exploded a few meters away from this Stryker. My friend was outside taking a piss when the truck ran the jersey barriers.

So yea, pretty survivable in terms of keeping people alive.

Deuce6: impressive, i don't think even the bradley would survive that much punishment.

yea pretty crazy stuff. And honestly, in urban combat, I think the stryker is more lethal and survivable than the bradley. Plus you don't clank around town letting everyone know what your up to. :D

But when you need that 25mm, it's worth the noise!

As for the Strykers, sure, they could work on some maps. The Mobile Gun System is still being tweaked; I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever see service, and if it doesn't, that could be a good thing. The M8 Armored Gun System, IMO, was and still is the better plan, and has been successfully retrofitted with the same 120mm cannon as the M1A1/A2 Abrams.
Actually I think it will be pretty soon for teh MGS vehicle. I got to go to "battle" with it during our JRTC training at fort polk and in yakima washington. What a bad *** vehicle that thing is! I got a good video of it going to work on some reinforced concrete slabs opening up a nice hole for us infantry to run through. I personally like it. It would have been great to engage buildings with it during our stint in iraq. Tows worked fine, but damn, that 120 would have been SWEET!

did they ever fixed the problem with stryker's mobile gun system though? From what i've read the chassis is too light to absorb the recoil from the 105 mm gun and suffered damage to the optic apparatus upon firing, but i did hear they were working on to fix that.

You know, I really have no idea what was wrong with the thing. When they tested it in Yakima during our live fire exercises, it looks like it worked fine. I think one major problem is they can't fire when the turret is at the 3, or the 9 o'clock position cause it will turn the vehicle on it's side.
