Why is not possible? It would be something very useful.

Re: Lean left and right
I don't think the engine can bend player models like that. The BF2 engine is very limited, compared to, say, Source (Half Life 2, CS:S, etc).
A player model can bend in only a few places on command, like the arms and the legs. Even if they could get the model itself to bend, then they would have to deal with getting the camera to change position and angle.
PLUS, the camera is in the stomach of the player model, not the head, so leaning would expose too much of your body before you get a good view.. You might as well just step to the side.

Yeah there, is go in to the game source code
but that is what they call illegal
EA owns rights to that afaik, and you'd have to buy the game engine
and please don't say 'lets buy the game engine' for that is a resuggestion

Re: Lean left and right
It used to bug me that there was no leaning since I was used to it from other games but after a while I almost think it's better not to have leaning because many games have tried to get it right but few that I've played ever have (red orchestra does it the best in my experience). There always seems to be some unresolvable mismatch between the exposed player parts and what is seen in 1st and 3rd person creating exploits where guys can shoot without being seen or with minimal incorrect exposure compared to what the player sees. Also I don't know how realistic leaning & shooting is anyway IRL (at least how it's implemented in games where the player ***** at an angle usually). I don't think IRL guys like to fire their guns at an angle while leaning and off balance.

Why do people keep saying this? Have you ever checked?waldo_ii wrote:PLUS, the camera is in the stomach of the player model, not the head, so leaning would expose too much of your body before you get a good view.. You might as well just step to the side.
Because I have, By merging the 1p and the 3p skeleton you can clearly see that the 1p camera bone is in the mouth of the 3p skeleton, Thus the camera is in the head and not the stomach.
ooh, and leaning is hardcoded
