Defender protection

Post by Symplify »

It never fully occurred to me just how ridiculously under armored the Defender is. I never really considered that it would be unreasonable to give soldiers so little protection.

But after seeing pictures of British troops in Afghanistan, I couldn't help but wonder; Why are the Defenders given such sparse and inadequate cover in PR?

For instance, look at this Defender:

And this one:

Is there any reason that the team has made the Defenders so open? Or was it just overlooked somewhat, in their creation?

Nowadays, like the Humvee, the Landys are getting up-armoured. When PR made them, they weren't.

i saw a documentary on a-stan (i think it was ross kemp in a-stan) where they didn't have any protection like in PR. so its not completely unrealistic. as for the reasons for that youd have to ask the british empire's military :D

indeed, I'll just get my time machine to go back to 1812

want jackal :D

I can live without since I don't like using the rovers close in, but it would indeed be nice to get some protection

the lack of protection can be a pain in the butt on longer ranges as well. some rifleman can easily hit you from the side as opposed to a HMMW or Vodnik.

It's the tradeoff between firepower and mobility vs protection. The Taleban hate 'em :)

Err would be nice if we could get a cloned version of the Rover with 6 seats and maybe some child armor plates stuck on sides? Since the British don't have their 'heavy jeep' that can transport a squad aside from the Saxon which got removed.
