From my basic understanding theres a slight change in accuracy/deviation. Not sure about deviation, but yeah, just a tad less accurate than the m16 due to being the carbine. Couldnt tell you much more though as I dont know... Nedlands will probably be around shortly to post the ingame specs though :P

And no to the GL thats just a bad idea. And like one of your pics had a GL on it... the rest had flashlights and stuff...

And I dont see why everyone complains about the PR US Army using the m4 while the PR Marines use the M16, come on people... its not a big deal, they look damn near the same anyway... its not like an AK and an M16... Its nice to have one "gun" for each force. otherwise they'd be one more step towards being too similar. ;)

Ok, I'm trying to get some factual images in here, so here's the first of probably a few more:
Search results for "M4" on the official usmc.mil photo gallery. Notice, all photos have either "MEU," "Recon" or a similar title/caption in them (which are all unstandard infantry units).
Photos

Here's an image of an SL (and his weapon):
http://www.marines.mil/units/marforpac/imef/1stmardiv/1stregiment/rct1/_layouts/imagemeta.aspx?image=http://www.marines.mil/units/marforpac/imef/1stmardiv/1stregiment/rct1/PublishingImages/080707-M-0582M-005.JPG

Here's another SL, but notice this time he has an M4. This is because, if you bother to read, he is an SL for "2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 5":
http://www.marines.mil/units/marforpac/imef/1stmardiv/5thregiment/rct5/_layouts/imagemeta.aspx?image=http://www.marines.mil/units/marforpac/imef/1stmardiv/5thregiment/rct5/PublishingImages/080611-M-6065T-001.jpg

Another regular SL:
http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/_layouts/imagemeta.aspx?image=http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/PublishingImages/2006/060117-m-2607o-002.jpg

Yet another regular SL:
http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/_layouts/imagemeta.aspx?image=http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/PublishingImages/2005/051113-m-7131a-022.jpg

Ok, here's an SL who actually has an M203:
http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/_layouts/imagemeta.aspx?image=http://www.marines.mil/units/marforcom/iimef/2ndmardiv/PublishingImages/2005/050825-m-4224f-027.jpg

I also neglected to include 2 other pictures of SLs with standard M16A4s (looked pretty much just like the other two regular SLs' weapon).

Marine Expeditionary Units are a combined arms force; the ground combat element is a standard infantry battalion with designated air assault (helicopter), boat and mech (AAV) companies along with reinforcements; artillery battery, tank platoon, AAV platoon, amphibious recon platoon (from divisional recon battalion), deep recon platoon (from MSOB or force recon company), etc.

Fire-team leaders in Marine rifle squads are generally also the M203 grenadiers.

With regards to the M4 in Marine service, outside of MSOB/recon/MP SRT/FAST Company, I have seen photos of it primarily in use by LAR Battalions (LAV crewmen and dismount scouts), hospital corpsmen and armor/AAV crews.

you do notice most of those pictures posted don't have a G.L on the m4... its a flash light.

Also Fire Team leaders are not in command of the full squad. They are in charge of the subdivision of the full squad. I.e. Squad PWN (6man) has fire team Alpha (3man) and Bravo (3man) in case of PR. In real life im guessing squads will be larger or smaller depending on the Country/Unit.

'ValerioZ.[ITA wrote:;778029']Yes.. The Fire Team Marines.. generally have the M203.
alot of the stuff is probably interchangable, i mean depending on different combat areas you would be issued different equipment, in the open desert an M16A4, in a tight city space an M4. the grenade launcher would be a bad idea, sure alot of troops have the GL but still PR isnt gonna give the SLs the GL because if they do the game would be stacked against the other teams, PR may be about realism but they still have to concider gameplay and balance issues, you cant get 100% realism in a game no matter how hard you try, it just wont work.

if they did go for full realism we'd have a world eceonmy screen where china can cut off exports and invade you with 10 men for every 1 nato can send to help. and lets not forget the fun US city maps would no longer exist because all the maps would end up in the open desert fighting over oil wells. how about border patrol that sound fun to you?

and no i dont believe an M203 will fit under the M4 shroud, it's too short.

There are two versions of the M203...

I'm sorry what? NONE of the pictures you just posted show a M203 at all. You must be confused with something else mounted on the M4.

I think its pretty clear that marines use both the M4 and M16. Giving the M4 wth GL to the O class seems a bit far fetched. To add realism why don't you give marines a mix in urban environments e.g
Officer:M4
Rifleman optics:M4
Rifleman iron sights (if one in 0.8 ):m16
Grenadier: M16 wth M203
Corpsman: M4
Engi:M16

Dunno abt the requested classes but something along those lines. Then for open combat all M16.

Whatever the DEV's decide is fine wth me i currently think the Marine faction is fine.

Well we can all agree that USMC is using the M4 and the M16, but we don't know what people in USMC is using what. The official site is saying M16 but I want a marine to say what being used and what is not being used before I say anything for sure.

But like I said you will be able to use the M4 with the US army.

True it does not mention the M4 but from pictures i have seen of marines not just on this post they are using M4 and M16A4's ,but as the previous post says we dont know for sure which marines are using what.

Anyway i like the current USMC loadout, at least it distinguishes them as marines. I am happy to wait what the 0.8 loadouts are going to be.
