Laser tags

Post by xatu miller »

Would it be possible to show laser tags marked by the soflam on the map in the jets? It would make lining up for CAS much easier. Also would it be possible to lock on the laser tags from a longer distance so you could fire guided missles and drop guided bombs from farther away, though still not out of the AA's range.

you need a forward air controller really, (the SL of the air squad)

another SL requests CAS support, icon is placed on map, commander informs air squad of target, air squad SL places attack marker on the CAS marker, jets now have a visual aid to guide them directly to target.

yea though if there is no commander it is not possible and usally if there is a commander he will be busy... Though this does work well with a well organized team

well 90% of the time people will just say "sending laser target now"(which i find hilarious) and believing they lazed it so you'll have to strafe it anyways :P which is oh so much more satisfying. But droping 500 lbs of laser targeted love isnt that bad either hehe especially when you hear the reactions of the people on vent when the bomb hits :D

ok maybe u are right about seeing the laser tags on the map  though a quite big distance is lost while u lock on the target and this causes droping bombs in some cases pretty hard(on battle for qinlinq with j-10s and eurofighters) :( . It can also be some times a problem with the a-10 though not that much 8) ... It would also be good if the laser guided missles(mavericks)wouldn't so easly fire all at a time or 2 at a time, this just waists time on landing and reloading :-D .

Your suppose to drop the bomb before you lock.
The rockets can lock on a visable target.
