0.8, Friday & Fileplanet

Uncluck for some i am going away on hols on the sat and my laptop is fucked os i cant take pr on and give me a very said birthday holiday that i cant play 0.8 for a week, but with fileplanet ahvign a download for us on friday is great news but one thing


Will it be payign subcribers to fileplanet only or will people with free subscriptions like me be able to get it.

Hm, I thought it was for paying subscribers only. A good way for FilePlanet to earn some more money by cooperating with the PR devs, if you understand what I mean. Can't blame them if they've realized the potential and popularity of this mod.

I don't think it would be right to pay for something like this. PR takes alot of content from other mods in BSS, I'd say they (the creators) deserve some cash as well in that case.

I did some looking at the figures on this for the PR Tourny forums:

In case anyone doesn't realise quite what a big deal this could be for PR:

Fileplanet.com is ranked #1,690 for internet traffic by Alexa. In May this year for example, one in every thousand internet users (0.1%) visisted Fileplant. With current global internet users estimated at around one and a half billion, that's 1,500,000 people visiting into Fileplanet in May, very roughly.

By comparison, the best that realitymod.com reached in the past 6 months was 0.002% of all the internet's users. That's 2 thousandsth of a percent of the interent, or two hundred thousandths of total internet users - we're ranked at nearly #70,000 in site listings - 29,000 internet users in June, roughly.


Divide 1,500,000 by 30 and 29,000 by 30 to get a daily number (roughly - this is all back-of-an-envelope, Mas-isn't-brilliant-with-maths stuff):


Coverage of release solely on Realitymod.com on Friday: 966 people view it.
Coverage of release on Fileplanet.com in addition to Realitymod.com on Friday: 50,966 view it.



So yeah, fileplanet coverage is a big deal. Especially considering that much of the internet's traffic has no interest in gaming or modding, but it's safe to bet that 100% of traffic headed towards Fileplanet.com are interested in video games and modifications.
