What do you want to see in a Realism Mod?

I just want to know, is this mod for sure going to be one life per round only? I know it would definetely get rid of tking, but most morons who tk dont take the time to dl a realism mod... I dont support on life per round, that is the only thing i dont like about AA. I think that every one should respawn at the same time at a main base or something and move out again, which would more acurately simulate reinforcements than bfv of bf 42 curretnly does.

I think BF has a good system... it just needs to be built uppon to serve as realism.
IE
People should only be able to spawn at rear(main) bases not in the middle of the action. IRL people arent just teleported into a firefight, theyre flown/driven in in transports. It adds to gameplay.
Longer time between spawn waves, 30 seconds is good, so that its not a constant stream of people pouring out of the base, more waves of people. Waves = people leaving together = teamwork... kinda.

In 21CW (and now the POE tourny, Total War) they used a MAP called "None but the Brave". A custom map map originally for 21cw. It's northern and southern most flags were made so you could not spawn back at them. So when you died, it forced people to spawn back at main and get your *** back up there and reinforce before the flag fell.
Worked out well in a tournament situation where we were on Teamspeak and were working together. Made things a bit more realistic if you ask me

Yea hoss, another map that works like that is...****...what is it called...river valley or something for eod mod, you can only spawn at 4 of the 7 spawn points, so this is definetely possible to code
so
new idea
you die
you can only spawn at your main base, and the spawn time is 30-45 seconds.
your main base can be capped, but it takes 3 minutes or more for 1 person.
if your main is capped, then if you have more than one other point left, then the map is programed so that in every possible situation, one team can only spawn at one base.
problems include: spawn raping from snipers- can be solved by making spawn locations that move slightly after they are used, say a yard or so, and the movement is random, but is stays in a safe radius so there is no spawning in side static objects.
prob# 2= spawn raping from air and arty. i dont know how to fix that. if the bad guys know where you are spawning, then they can endlessly pound your with arty and helicopter and jet fire. anyone got a solution or better idea?
also: it would be nice to have flash bang grenades...

That is such a good idea! Can you guys do that?Figisaacnewton wrote:problems include: spawn raping from snipers- can be solved by making spawn locations that move slightly after they are used, say a yard or so, and the movement is random, but is stays in a safe radius so there is no spawning in side static objects.

You could even go "partial" with the idea. Make certain important points in a map where if you cap them, you can respawn there. Maybe in the larger maps this will be better than going all the way back to main when you die.It will also give people a few places to spawn and dilute spawn camping a bit (if you have any flags that is)
Bridges and points like that would be good to no be able to spawn at.

Or, the commander could choose an airborn spawn point instead of artillary strikes. Also please remove his ability to see the entire map and everyone on it! Thats anti-realistic. Infact Im starting to think dice has taken a good concept(a field commander) and screwed it over into a guy whos invincible that can see everywhere with his magical radar dishes and automaticaly shell any point on the map.

It really looks like this commander thing is specifically made for Clan matches/Tournament type scenarios. I would think most public servers would have this turned off and keep the stander Battlefield play intact. I play in the POE tournamet (http://www.total-war.com), and the commander option would be great for it.
We shall see.
He has a top down view of the map and he can call in artillery, drop ammo crates and set waypoint for his players.
Sounds like there are strategic points on the map other than flags. So if the server does have the commander option on, the team better work together using the in-game vioce communitcations. Notice the long reload time on the ATY, I doubt they would allow the commander to wipe out everything and rule the map.As long as your teams radar stations are intact he can see _everything_ on the map. And where he can see, he can shoot artillery - although the artillery is being balanced with a long reload time, so, the commander will have to choose his targets wisely .
We shall see.

man, with geo-sycronous satelites, modern comanders can see basiclly everything on the battlefield, unless it's hidden under/in something. And modern radar is capable of seeing basiclly any vehicle on the battelfield, ecspecially, with this new radar under development, even stealth fighters/bombers won't be invisible for much longer (can't remember what it's called, but was reading about it the other day). And u have to remember, BF2 is set in the near-future, allowing EA/Dice to incoporate technologies that are under development, such as this new system of radar.Ugly Duck wrote:Also please remove his ability to see the entire map and everyone on it! As to being invisible, as Hoss quoted, his vision is reliant on radar stations, which can be destroyed. It's not the enemy commander's fault if your team is to lazy to take out his 'eyes'.
The commander mode will be an awesome addition to the gameplay in BF2, n will allow for far more dynamic gameplay, as well as incouraging teamwork. I look fwd to seeing it in action.

But it is radar! All you see on radar are symbols that represent different sized objects! Soldiers wouldnt even show up on radar! Neither would buildings or towns. The fact is its not radar its a magical camera floating over the map for the commanders viewing pleasure. Then he points and clicks and down comes a hail of shells and voiala, no more bad guys. Its a good idea with a gay EA/Dice twist, the power to obliderate anything with a single click. Teamwork will go to hell, can you imagine? 5 guys moving down an alley towrds a flag then BOOM out of no where

And by "long reload time" its most likly all of 30 seconds at the most. Wich means with the suggested spawn times thats fast enough to anialate spawn wave after spawn wave.

Your still focused soley on the radar, in this day and age there are things called satelites, and satelites allow commanders in the field to view enemy troop movements (ever watch black hawk down, tears of the sun, behind enemy lines?? They can acctually do that in RL, not just in movies). And radar stations can simply be a means of relaying the satelite signals to the commanders. And on top of satelites, there are always the recon planes high overhead that give commanders up-to-date relays on enemy movements.Ugly Duck wrote:But it is radar! U been keeping up-to-date on whats happening in Iraq?? Look at Fallujah, the americans have been bombing/shelling the hell outta the enemy forces there.Ugly Duck wrote:Its a good idea with a gay EA/Dice twist, the power to obliderate anything with a single click. I'm sure EA & Dice are intelligent enough to play-test the game before releasing it, especially with such a big release as BF2, and I'm confident that they'll manage to come up with a decent reload time. And even if they do stuff it up in the original release, it took 6 patches before they were done with fixing up BF, and they can always chuck in a patch to change the reload time on the arty.Ugly Duck wrote:And by "long reload time" its most likly all of 30 seconds at the most. 1. BHD is one of my favorite movies, and it was NOT a satelite it was a helicopter with cameras. Tears of the son is made up, its not real, its holly wood. Behind Enemy lines is BASED on a real life story, however is unlikely to be 100% acurate. Also, satelites cant hover over the battlefield, they loop around the planet and would only briefly be over the area, if they ever passed over at all.
2. And the things that get shelled and hit by artillary in falluja have been identified over weeks of observation. They dont just say hey that looks like there are bad guys in it lets blow it up. If that were the case there would be a lot more civilian casualties.
3 Dice has proven incapable of testing with BF:V. How is it possible to let an uber class that sprints around with an M60 with god like accuracy as well as carrieing 4 LAW's or like 5 Grenade rounds as well as a grenade launcher.
