Pistol change

seeing as how the Marines are the main us force in BF2 it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to see them equipping everyone with this type of 1911 .45ACP
admittly it would unbalance the pistols. But would be a cool idea maybe with a 15 round extended mag.

The Kimber ICQB and MEU(SOC) pistol have been discussed before, quite often (please do a search before posting) and we do wish to include a custom M1911 in game at some point, but it will not be a standard sidearm, because it isn't in real-life.

Only the Maritime Special Purpose Force direct-action component (attached Force Recon DA platoon) of a Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) carries the MEU(SOC) Pistol.

MCSOCOM Det 1 has been officially disbanded and MARSOC has formed in its place. No word yet on if they will continue the issue and purchase of the Kimber ICQB, dip into SOCOM stocks for the Mk-23 lemons or just wait for the Joint Service Combat Pistol.

Hehe.

Anyway why the hell did they get rid of it, just to remake another force?

Because it was kind of an experimental unit. Once they knew it worked, they discontinued the experiment and used the lessons learned to implement new policy. And if decisions by the brass always made perfect sense, then enlisted personnel would have nothing to ***** about. They disbanded Small Craft Company, too, even after 15 years of service and them proving their worth in Iraq. Now the Navy is making their own Mobile Riverine Force- everybody seems to want to reinvent the wheel.

Yes, it is. But still people are able to make a business out of it. Some sources are unreliable, but the good ones tend to have hefty subscription fees, like Jane's Information Group. I used to be a research intern in a military library and access to JIG was the most awesome perq of the job; a subscription that would have cost at least 10 figures a year for me. And possibly a couple of fingers, yakuza style. One of my former classmates works for JIG, now; he's really squared away. :)

wow you guys really know your stuff don't you. It would be kinda cool though to have say the Spec Ops class carry a .45ACP. If we're just giving them to special forces. Yes i know Marine recon isn;t the same sort of special forces as Delta but it is the cloest class. Also sorry for not searching for a silimar thread.
