Melee

Post by Army Musician »

Is it possible to add an alternative attack mode on the Melee side of things.
I now really love you for adding the bayonet, could you now a right click attack, so you can clobber the enemy over the head. Like in CoD2.
Left click = Bayonet
Right click = Butt of Rifle

So you clobber the enemy with the butt of the rifle, and then finish him off with the bayonet.

Well they don't like it up 'em.

Thanks ever so much for PR.0.8

P.S. Please don't lock the thread, without reply or link thanks. :(

Would require new animations, I'm not sure if they'd be up for it.

Sill Bayoneting them is a good idea. But if you are are feeling rather sadistic, you can clobber them first.

Bayonet needs a slight range to it; currently it's the same range as the knife, meaning I'm actually killing you with my left hand.

+1, totaly agreed. There needs to be a difference between bayonet, knife and cuffs, with the cuffs having the shortest range.

What if the butt of rifle attack has a slightly wider attack than the bayonet and could somehow deflect a knife attack? :p

I've not used the new SKS mounted bayonet yet, sounds cool.

To the devs, I really think the British Bayonet is wonderful, it looks really life like, and deadly. Just one small problem, why is it used as a knife (in game that is), because surely it would be much quicker and a lot easier to fix the bayonet to the rifle, than to 'sling' the weapon across your back. From my own personal experience, when your rifle is slung, and you have got all you kit on, it can be quite irritating, not mention the fact there is more chance of the muzzle ending up in the ground, and as you know, blocked muzzle + firing = soldier with half his face blown up.
I know you have probably been told this too many times to count.
Please excuse my insolence, as I know good animations/animators are hard to come by (good job on that btw).

Plus clobbering the enemy over the head with the rifle, great fun!

Thanks again for a great mod, and could we look forward to something like this in the next release?

Not enough time. Even when working 7 hours a day on animations for 1 1/2 months, I guess I wasn't fast enough.

Bayonets fixed with buttstroke alternate attack for all rifles has been suggested before. Too much animation, I'm afraid.

Damn...so you're saying you can't make the SKS' alternate fire the stabbing animation? That would be too cool for words...

And stellar work Chuc...you're clearly the superstar of .8

F***ing hell!!! You must have damned hard to get these animations like the reload etc.. working so well. REALLY WELL DONE!!!

Take your time!

The bayonet, is just a thrusting action, which you could possibly 'borrow' from Xww2, as they are part of BSS or FH2 (they even have the bayonet fixing action). If I might add regards realism, when using melee, you are in Hand to Hand combat, and when in melee, you are stood-up, so really you need one animation, which should make things alot easier.

Regards the butt thrust, again you would be in melee and standing up most likely.

Again I have not a clue how you go about making animations, though I would do it if I knew how, and had the correct software.

Again well done

As a dev team member myself for The Lord of the Rings: Total War :: Index I know how annoying it is, when people are constantly asking the same questions, and you seem to have try and cater for everyone as much as possibleg as soon as possible, so all I can say is "take your time".

Thanks Again.
