Sounds like you were playing Al Basrah insurgency. I've been playing PR for 2 years and I don't have any fun on that map in 0.75 either. Just play other maps like normal smaller AAS maps like Qwai, Mestia, etc.

The other thing is, if you get a bad or stupid squadleader then this game is never fun. You need to play and find out who the good ones are, or else you'll be putting around doing stupid missions and being out of position.

If your SL seems to know what he is doing, go medic and stay close to him.
If you have a noob in your squad, tell him to go medic and cover your ***.
Dont forget to tell him why you are camping this spot. (enemy will come here or lose).

I learned this game fast cause of good SL's. Im very patient with noobs (as long as they go medic/rifleman and try to follow me).

Bi ming is the most fun map now I reckon.
If you are new, start on the smaller maps so you can understand you have to work as a squad to do well then move onto bigger maps which really need inter squad cooperation for the team to win

You have a very good point, SL also affects game experience, a good SL that keeps track of whats happening and keep us posted and give sensitive orders will increase the game experience. Nothing like a good Squad wipeout due to poor tactics and poor suqadplay to kill the fun.

A big problem i have now is often when the SL leaves, i end up SL, i'm assuming this is due to BF ranks? Since i dont know the mob all that well, dont know the maps at all, i dont make a good SL and i am not afraid to say it, i try to give the job away.

See you in my sights... :)

Any decent vBF2 clan knows who is gonna be SL if/when the SL leaves and rejoins the squad. Im to drunk to explain so JFGI....

Edit: Since you cant spawn on SL, this knowledge doesnt matter to PR players....

Oooh, you've taught me something here :)

I've always wondered how the new leader was chosen, and your idea actually make sense... Thanks :)

Also, i'm glad you begin enjoying that mod... Learning curve may be hard and long, but take your time... When i begun playing PR, I think it took me about one month before trying vehicles because i was too afraid to loose them, two or three before leading my first squads (altough i'd spent half of my time as SL in vBF2 :) ) because i wasn't enough confident (actually, not speaking english doesn't help that much...), and twice as much before commanding. And even after almost one year playing the game, i've still never used choppers or planes because i'm still afraid of wasting them...

So if i can give you an advice : do not hurry up !

Drake I have never understood how BF2 decides what player is next to become SL, care to enlighten us?

kylerthegod wrote:Hi Everyone,

As you can see i'm new here and i just installed the PR mod that i heard great feedback about.

Since it fits my style of gameplay (teamwork & Realism) i gave it a shot.

I have some general comments and questions regarding the gameplay, if you could please comment on them.

- Even tho we seemed to have a server that had a fair amount of folks, i felk the map i played (only one) was HUGE. The first round i played as insurgent protecting weapon caches, lasted for well over an hour (that is fine by me) but i barely saw any action.
- Was the "slow gameplay" impression i had caused by
inexperienced players like me, lost or the map size i
happened to play on or is common as part of the PR gameplay?

As an insurgent you should be in an area where the brits are looking for caches. There must have been bad communication and coordination in your team. Occasionally you need to be on the defense though in other maps and a hostile squad never arrives, that does not happen too often though. So no there is plenty of action and a lot of players make more kills than in a vanilla round.

- When i played the next round, played as UK, joined a squad
and we kept going in doing demo jobs on bridges. i dont get
what we were doing, sec objectives to gain intel points? the
mission was to find weapon caches. Could we just not scourge
the town building by building? :)

Well to tell the truth it puzzles me why the brits would demlish bridges having armor and such.

- Then the other experience i'd like to comment about is connection wise. I got a solid ISP, good ping time, no problem playing other games, even vanilla BF2. Then i'm assuming it's the server and not the mod, everyone appeared to get knocked off the server and i was getting some pretty bad patches of Lag, mostly while driving around. Is that commonplace or just hit a bad server?

On the really large maps it can happen, however lag does not happen very often to me and i have average computer and connection.

I'll give it another go, i'm usually smart enough to try something more then once before i judge it completely.
Thats the spirit :)

I believe it's based on current score.

"That's how it starts, Mas, with that warm happy feeling inside. Pretty soon you're rocking in the corner, a full grown dog addict, wondering where your next St Bernand is coming from..." - IAJTHOMAS
"Did they say what he's angry about?" asked Annette Mitchell, 77, of the district, stranded after seeing a double feature of "Piranha 3D" and "The Last Exorcism." - Washington Post

-Sometimes, yes. The rest of the time it just throws a bit into the darkness that is BF2 code and whoever gets hit in the face is SL. I lol everytime the guy who just joined the server and the squad gets pushed up to SL position...
