Quick question.

Does the monitor mess these things up. for example the monitor brightness, or gamma?

Yeah I'm pretty sure you'd need configure your monitor to be just like Bosco's to get the desired effect with those nVidia settings. Each monitor will be slightly different. Even if you had Bosco's monitor you need to set the contrast, brightness, gamma etc to be the same.

You can download pre-calibrated colour profiles for monitors. For instance, for my Samsung 226BW monitor, there are several people who had made colour profiles (eg Samsung 226BW Colour Profiles and Samsung 226BW A and S series: The verdict (page 3: The 226BW A series : calibrate your screen at no cost) - BeHardware).

I say it for sure looks better.


I will try to see if it works with ATI's 4870 card. I let you know.

well if everyone uses the Nvidia monitor calibration utility (which i'm sure bosco uses) then everyone monitors should be calibrated the same..

yeah.. right click anywhere on the desktop and select Nividia control panel then in "select a task" in display settings there is "run display optimization wizard" option, this is the monitor calibration tool..

I had pretty much those settings anyway... For all Nvidia users, I highly suggest going into the control panel and using its Optimization Wizard. This greatly improved my quality of gaming and general computer things.

No problem.. it makes a hugh difference when you have Contrast/Brightness & RGB gamma settings calibrated properly, it's amazing how many folk don't bother to tune their monitor's properly, specially if it's a decent monitor they've spent loads of dosh on!

ATI only has brightness, contrast and gamma, doesn't it? I'd like to be able to change saturation. Aren't there any tiny apps out there that do that for you? As in, start the app, change colors, start game, play with different colors. Woah!

(This only works if your on DVI)
