huh? PR is a free mod and EA has no rights to sell it nor does PR have rights to sell it on its own cause it is based on EA's engine. ... ???

I'm a bit... well, more than a bit confused too. What do you mean?

Are you asking that, if PR was sold as own game, would we still recognize the BF2 engine, and why?

Well - yes, we would.

Some little things may look the same, but as time goes by, the PR game will morph into a work of its own. :)

I consider Project Reality as an entirely independant game using the Battlefield 2 engine, just like Rainbow Six Las Vegas use Unreal Engine 3... If we look in the past, those who create massively played mod had developpe an entire game. Just think to FFoW from Desert Combat 1942 mod team. IMO FFoW is not a succes, but they develop they're own game. So why not ? I would buy it if it as good as Project Reality.

I think he is saying that if you had never known about PR and someone told you that it was a completely different game, would you believe that person. And no, I would recognize the BF2 engine.

Okay, now that he's reworded his post I would think, yes, it does look eerily similar to BF2. I might even be able to guess it was a mod.

the only reason it looks like bf2 is because of those old bf2 character models, but they are working on those :D

There are way too many things still unchanged, Radio Commands, Map, Squad Screen, Weapon Selection, etc. It would be hard to fool anyone who played BF2.

Ha, I remember at the school lunch table I was telling everyone "yeah, I play a modification of Battle field 2 called project reality"

All they could say was "eh what?"

If PR became a different game I say ditch the BF2 engine, it's crappy.

When you look at it you do recognize the BF2 engine, though PR looks better by now, but as playing goes, totally different. Vanilla feels like clown shoes in comparison.
