And Code decrypters it would...
Can you Rephrase the question? are you asking if there are things once thought to be hardcoded that have now been worked around or summit?

the caves in Kornengal where done in the same way that the Tunnel on OGT was done, ie, a static, which we have said all the long is possible with the BF2 engine, we had done it since v0.4 ........
What is not possible is to carve wholes into the terrain itself, which is still not possible....

Yeah my work was build off of the OGT idea plus seeing as you can enter a building
.
I would say (without giving anything away) the coding aspect of the game.

Re: What used to be thought to be hardcoded, no discoverd not?
1. We changed the way the flares work, more into a weapon than a utility.
2. afaik in the past we had problems with it, IMO its still not working that well, due to limitations but its userable in its current state.
3. dunno about that, dont remember any one saying it was hard coded...
4. it wasn't possible cos of huge texture problems which a guy from DICE helped us out with. I wouldn't say 4km^2 is super huge. I have crated 16km maps but the biggest problem there is rescaing the textures to fit that size, if you work out how to do it, please tell me, but it most likly means editing the terraindata.raw file of the map by hand, which I have tried many times in the past with a hax editor and not got it to work
Still with 4km maps we have dynamic shadow probs on the terrain etc.
5. dunno when we ever said this was hard coded?
The fact of the matter still stays the same, ie, to acchive these things we have to do HUGE work arounds for most parts to acchive this kinda stuff, and it dose not work perfelcty due to it. There is no simple little option that you hit for us to acchive this stuff.
"fastropes" techinally is not hard coded, techinally its already ingame as you can deploy a grapple hook from inside the chopper, then jump out the chopper and jump onto the rope. We have known that for ages, the fact is this system dose not work at all well and is very buggy etc. There is also no other better way we know of doing it at this time. As a result, for the same reason DICE abandoned the fast ropes in there mid development stage was cos they couldn't get it working very well, and in the end of the day, it offers nothing to gameplay since the chopper ingame can much more easily land than do the fast ropes.

Dynamic Weather System/ Day to Night maps
it`s not hardcoded(i check it from allready suggestion thread)
but its allready suggested but i want to know why its not in game?
i dont mind the weather system except wintermaps...but day to night map would be nice.
