...that double-clicking on the desktop PR icon still produces that old "Warning! You must select pr.exe, not bf2.exe" BS.
So I go into the mod via the Community-tab in BF2, get onto a server and the screen is black. I can hear the battle and read chat-text, but no graphics.
I guess you chaps didn't think it was worth sorting out the issues with the downloaded version of the game.

Mate, first off, this post is rather out of order. I can understand you are frustrated, but this is just offensive. So my first comment is, are you with Vista and you are enabling it as admin? Also you should run it from it's desktop icon, and if you right click and properties, it should say in Target:
Then in your Start in: it should say:
Or something similar."C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
Then in your Start in: it should say:
That should solve your problem, but please refrain from posting such offensive posts in future for your sake, or you will quickly be banned off this forum I can see."C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"

Woot for a a descriptive title.
"You know we've had to imagine the war here, and we have imagined that it was being fought by aging men like ourselves. We had forgotten that wars were fought by babies. When I saw those freshly shaved faces, it was a shock "My God, my God?" I said to myself. "It's the Children's Crusade."- Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughter House Five

I'm on XP. My icon properties are exactly as above. Last time I played PR I had to jump through multiple hoops to get it going (I recall a batch-file and some other stuff). Even after all that the game would crash or CTD after a couple of maps, so with much regret I gave up (PR was one of the best FPS I'd played in years, absolutely loved it).TheScot666 wrote:Mate, first off, this post is rather out of order. I thought I'd check back in, saw v8 was up and figured it would have been fixed. I was wrong. Not sure why these issues still remain, but I also recall there was a known issue with the EA download version and that was being blamed. Like I say, thought it might have been fixed.
I'm on a different mobo now, new RAM, new soundcard, one 8800GTX instead of two in SLI. And no more Vista. Go figure.

Re: I can barely believe... I have the same issue
Erm . . . sorry, very new user with exactly the same issue - running vista with the pr shortcut properties set to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
and the start in as:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"
but I'm getting the error message described below . . .
I followed the install instructions to the letter, downloaded BF2 from EA and installed the 1.41 patch before installing pr0.8 . . sadly I really am not all that technically minded when it comes down to it but it seems from the forum that this is a known issue -anyone care to offer a known solution for the novice??

Re: I can barely believe...
Hardware mis-comunication coupled to an installation bad choice of not letting it place a desktop icon on core and levels glitch/workaround.
