'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino']ABR aka Alternative Battlefield Ranking.

This is the ranking thing some PRMM Servers like the GloryHoundz Server and a few others use.

Now I just want to list all the good and bad things about ABR to see if you guys really want it on the PRMM servers.

The Good
  • Lets you track your k/d ratio which can be nice
  • Lets you "Show off" your rank to other people in the server and say, "look here, I'm a pro!"
The Bad
  • Lags the server big time! Especially at the end of each round where you get a message on your screen for 15secs saying "There is a problem with your connection"
  • Encourages stat whoring and going lone wolf to get as many kills as you can and not think about having fun and playing as a team!
  • Encourages "Stat Padders" to the servers
Now personl I rate gameplay with no lag, teamwork and fun over stats by a long way. Im wondering about you guys.
I completely agree 100% with you Rhino. Stats are what destroyed Team Play in the 1st place.

Though I dont really care too much for stats, I do enjoy recieving medals and ribbons and such for certain acts, like the aviator badge or aerial service ribbon etc.

I like the stats and you get more kills over deaths when you work as a team. And there's very little lag, even at the end, when you have the ABR client.

Stats do not cause less teamplay. On the contrary they increase teamplay. You can not do a great job without your team in pr. Without stats being recorded you have an increase in those who tk for vehicles and the such. I think abr should be included as an option for server admins.

The end of the round delay is temporary not a permanent thing.

Well think about it. There is still a score ingame even if it isnt tracked. And doesnt everyone try to get 1st place in game?? Abr only records this stuff it doesnt make people strive for first place.

Yeah I am #1 in abr and I still am the first one to use teamwork and put my self in danger to get a teammate healed, revived, or rearmed.

This is exactly my feeling. To get a good score you need good teamwork.

I hate any and all ranking systems. they take away from the original BF concept which is to fight a battlefield simulation. Not setting individual goals/rewards. Stats system is what killed BF2 IMO.

Stats, People want to strive to the top to show who is better. I think having stats is more like bragging rights. Stats do help with teamwork BIG time, another thing is if people are having a bad round, they just look and see how bad of a round there having. Gives the momentum to get better and there goal and the teamwork. I guess you could look at it different ways, stats could be a good thing or bad.

OH by the way who cares about DEDMON, hes sucks, I'll take him any day of the week..

sob, clicked some damn link or other, lost my comment gotta retype it...

first off - I think the possibilities of unlockable weapons outweighs people stat whoring and even a small amount of lag. there are so many guns PR oughta have (at the absolute least, variations of guns) which it cant do with a limited number of classes

second - people that wanna lone wolf it will do so with or without abr/persistant stats, so eliminating it aint gonna help get rid of lone wolves

btw: dedmon, you forgot a closing bracket, it didnt apply quote formatting to the text

BTW I don't mind ABR being supported, as long as it doesn't become a requirement.

Then you wouldn't be able to move without the constant cries of "clear" "ammo" "need ammo"

and about 50 meds trying to revive one guy.

Theres not much scope for teamwork based stats, if the "assist" table is calucalated by:

flag cap
flag defend
revive
ammo
repair
healing
kill assist

Stats aren't real, get rid ot them. I see them as being useful if DICE ever opened up a bit, and let mods teams use the unlock system. By Unlock system, I mean where everyone regardless of rank gets a choice of loadout. For example, the Spec Op getting a M4 or MP5

Whoring is universal. Infact most cases of stat padding, is two folk killing each other and then reviving them constantly. Which increases the "teamwork" stat.
