i have been playing on a training server the past week or so, learning to use all the new weapons and such. and i finally realized that when it comes to infantry combat, no one is actually good at infantry combat (that i have seen)! the least amount of bullets i have seen used to kill one enemy (he was standing and in the open by the way) soldier was like 11 or 12 bullets, and only like 2 or 3 of those actually hit the enemy, the rest just flew off 4 or 5 feet away from the target. that being said we should have a infantry shooting range, one with targets out at 50m intervals, each target being a steel silouette target that can fall down or one that you can here the bullet strike the target with a "ping" sound. so we can actually learn how to use our weapons effectively, insted of spray and pray which is pretty much what we have to do even tho we are using our scopes or iron sights!
i realize this may not be possible because of the coding thing, but i just wanted to throw that idea out there.
another thing, why is it impossible to do some of the things we suggest for PR. cant you just go into the coding thing and change a few numbers or letters? i am not a coder, or whatever you call it, from what i understand you just change a few symbols, but whatever i cant do anything about it.
Thanks,

I don't see how a lot of people are bad at aiming. I think the reason is they rush. I take a couple seconds after being sighted in, then shoot, quickly make sure its still on target, then shoot another, not rushing myself at all. I almost always get they guy.

Yes, but most of the time you don't have time for those few seconds after a each shot. most of the time you turn a corner and there is a guy 20 meters (or closer) away from you and you shoot until he drops and not stopping for each shot and unfortunelty because of the accuracy with the new guns in 0.8 thats like your whole mag because 90% of your rounds don't come even close to the guy.stoobywon wrote:I don't see how a lot of people are bad at aiming. the battlefield2 engine is notorious for having lots of "hardcoded" features, in other words the source code is not available to modify certain aspects of the game. what the devs have accomplished with the challenges that the bf2 engine brings is amazing to say the least, but certain things {like fatropeszz!!!11!!} are just flat out impossible to do thanks to the crappy engine. however it is still the best engine available for what the devs are aiming for with this mod.Tiglath_Ashur wrote:

Re: Training map additions.
I agree with this, it would be nice to train with a sniper rifle. Where to put the crosshair depending on where the enemy is. Would also be nice if you could make the targets slide back and forth, so you can train against moving targets.
I doubt it would be very difficult to do. Just give the targets like 1 hp, so a single shot kills them, and have them respawn in like 10 seconds. I also believe you can move objects in the map, but this I'm not too sure about. In the end the basic shooting range is 100% doable, however I'd like to hear a dev specify on my moving target idea.

ZOCOM Sniper/Pilot
ZOCOM is a 6 man team, looking for team play with eachother, and other people. If you see the ZOCOM squad ingame, and you've got VOIP and wanna pitch in to the squad, join up.

For CQB some weapons are a lot more effective then the others.
I find that PRSP is one of the best things you can do specifically
for infantry combat.Give them time and they will release the
0.8 PRSP (PR single player)
Meanwhile run a local server, get a weapon (that you want to practice with) and pick some kind of target: a tree, car, chopper you will see
if the bullets are hitting or not

Re: Training map additions.
The only thing that needs to be added to the training maps are instructors.

Apropos instructors: What I seem to lack is a) a complete changelog for the new version and b) a more thorough documentation. Now I dont know if this is intended that way or if the devs just had not had the time to take care about that.
Maybe there even isnt that much changes but it would be helpful to make not only a documentation for those who just started out to play but although for those vets that only need to know what was changed about / newly introduced to the battlefield.
So for example I learned rather late how to use the sniper (press '3') properly because the line about this new feature was buried somewhere deep in the docs.
Don't get me wrong I know you have a lot of work as it is right now so I am just pointing that as something that might could be improved at some time in the future.
Thanks for the great mod though !

Re: Training map additions.
That's why suppressive fire is more important than ever. If you are getting constantly shot at you're gonna be less inclined to hang around and wait for your aim to stabilize before firing back. If you have the enemy in that position, though, you can have someone take their time and and aim when he pops up. In this context it actually makes sense that you expend several magazines during one firefight.Tiglath_Ashur wrote:Yes, but most of the time you don't have time for those few seconds after a each shot. most of the time you turn a corner and there is a guy 20 meters (or closer) away from you and you shoot until he drops and not stopping for each shot and unfortunelty because of the accuracy with the new guns in 0.8 thats like your whole mag because 90% of your rounds don't come even close to the guy.
