Medic!

Post by Meester »

Some things I have learned about medics in PR.

1. When healing you, more often than not they will get into your line of fire at some stage which makes firing at a chinese man wielding a knife very hazardous especially when you accidently TK the medic by shooting a bullet up his nostril.

2. If you are revived by a medic in cover it would be nice for him to heal you in cover instead of watching him race off while you are still bleeding.
If you are revived in the middle of a road or similiar type open area it is better for you to follow them, into cover than watch them heal you in the middle of a road and therefore get run over by a vodnik or shot to bits.

3. If you need reviving, more often than not your team will have no medics within a few km of you.

4. Medics tend to like socialising with other medics, which is why medics tend to bunch up together and not near your corpse 10 miles away.

5. Some medics are deaf, thus are unable to hear your cries for help.

Add any more medic experiences in PR :)

As opposed to medics getting in the line of fire, I find that people getting healing often line to needlessly stare at medics. If the enemies are on the other side, opposite from the medic, they'll turn their back to the enemy and stare at the medic, as if they could will the healing to go faster.

Most people also think about themselves and themselves only. If they are lying in a field of 20 unconscious comrades, they fully expect the medic to revive them, give them a sponge bath, shave them, cut their hair and make them coffee while the rest of the team bleeds out. They usually also don't see too well, and don't get the idea to follow the medic, even if he practically can lead them by hand to the cover that he can see clearly.

If you need reviving, often your medic will need reviving as well. Not only does he have to be there 3 seconds after your medic call, he also has to have better bullet repellent abilities than you.

Medics do bunch up, because a lot of medics will answer to calls that blue guys make. The problem with this is that while they see the wounded on their minimap, they don't see other medics on the map. So, they rush to the guy fully expecting to be the only medic there. Add to that the fact that some people are so impatient that they have to repeat the call for a medic while he's right on top of them and healing them, and you can see the problem.

Some medics are deaf, blind, and bleeding profusely out of every orifice while trying to stabilize themselves so that they can raise their rifle and kill the insurgent 5 meters away before he tosses a molotov and burns them alive while they try to desperately crawl away towards the blurry shapes.

Sometimes medics just want to be left be. We want to heal our squad mates first. Just because you got a hat does not put you over priority of said medic's squad mates (yea.. that was me being medic...)

Sorry if this sounds slightly bitchy but….

Why not just spawn medic and play in the way you think they should be played?

The highest priority for a medic is the own squad leader, followed by the squad. Blue mob is not important and should only be revived if directly on the path or ordered by the own SL or commander. My opinion.

only the medics can see people's health, so only the medics can organise triage, do what your medic says :x

Interesting idea actually... would it be hardcoded to....... :p j/k

Well, however, problems with medics and or healed persons running around like chickens isnt new, and since 0.8 gave medics new toys and has just been released, the class is (to our luck) more popular. That, plus people being confused by how the system works etc makes it quite annoying right after a release, so... well, I'd just wait.
