Hey anybody know what causing these weird sections of stretched texture?
I uv mapped all of it with planar mapping. It's all good on the outside, but I can't get rid of the stretching on the inside. Dose it mean the model's screwed up?
It looks fine in 3ds max...
If that stretching is occurring on the model it has to either be the model or the UVW map (or a combination of both). More likely it is the model, try not to stretch connected vertices to far apart or in a disproportional fashion.
Also, it's good not to just hit planar and slap on a UVW map. Actually move the verticies around in the UVW map so it flows and looks good. Also, try a different map if planar's not working out. Try a box for starters.
At no point did I stretch connecting vertices or anything like that...
Also the Uv mapping looks fine in max on all layers. So I do think it's the model.
Could I just delete the bad polys and replace them?
Hmm come to think of it, I think it was one of the layers - very likely the detail layer that had a few messed up verts that accidently was dragged. It seems that way, and it being corrected by a new poly just supports this since thats bound to reset the UV on that poly.
