I already talk to a dev about this but i just want to see your opinions
Pilots of attack helicopters (uh-1y , ah-6 , ah-1w ,and etc)
should be able to see the laser designator box on their HUD. Its realistic and would help make it easier for pilots to see their target so they can provide CAS. I when it comes to helicopters like the ah-1z , most people here just fly high and hover. Well for maps like Muttrah city where FFAR'S are actually used , for the pilot it would help to see pinpoint on where the target is.
Sure you can just get a grid on where a enemy location is from a squad leader who is requesting a gun run .. But if he can soflam the specific building at the coordinates, it would make things easier for a pilot doing a gun run

Re: Regarding laser designation
This is a hard thing to argue. Yes, having something on screen that tells you where the lazer designation is for a gun run helps you, but it destroys the use of teamwork to get the pilot to the coordinates for the gun-run. For example, in v0.8 the pilot would need to look at the map and see where the CAS icon, set by the SL via the Commander, so the chopper can fly to it and hopefully see the target location.

Re: Regarding laser designation
Doesn't the gunner see laser target boxes? I figure he can always point the pilot in the general direction. But yes, it'd make sense if the pilot could see the designator box. After all, in modern choppers the pilot can usually display the view from the FLIR on one of his MFDs, allowing for easier coordination between him and the gunner (rather than PR's "That building? No, the one to the left? That one? The other one?").

Agreed, especially useful for Operation Barracuda and the hueys.

"oh, they're fire and forget all right...they're fired then they forget where the target is"

How is that destroying teamwork? This idea is neither adding more teamwork nor making the issue of teamwork a non factor..Cptkanito wrote:This is a hard thing to argue. I don't know about targeting lasers a la the Hellfire system in game, but through NVGs a tank would be able to see IR laser aiming devices, such as those Infantry fit to their rifles. (Insight PEQ2A)Dr2B Rudd wrote:ORLY?
