No idea if this was discussed or can be implemented, but it would be really useful for the team if each special kit request from a SM would have to be approved by the SL (PgUp, PgDn, similar to accepting commander orders).

Sidenote: perhaps also disable special kit requests for 1 man squads?

Good idea, sounds hardcoded though. :(

A squad of 2 should be able to get kits like officer, snipe and specops. The other kits should require squads of 3 or 4 though.

would be a good way to stop guys jumping in your squad get a kit that they want then leaving

Wouldn't be needed cos you'd be the squadleader anyway ;)

Good idea though, hope it's possible, if anything the best benefit would be keeping your squad doing what you intend them to be doing, no more guys disappearing to go fly an A10 or drive a tank or anything.

used to be like this in 0.5 u needed 2 peeps in squad for specialized and 3 or 4 for normal

Only ones who do that is sniper usually. And I do not mind at all. Sniper should be on his lonesome to do recon, or wherever is a large firefight where he can make a difference without being spotted. I say make the sniper avaiable to a single man squad. Snipers dont always have a spotter, especially when they do recon they often work alone.
If somebody would grab sniper in my squad I would ask him to leave and go about being a sniper. When Iam sniper I eithier do spy work, or go where a sniper rifle is needed and you cant be attatched to a squad for that.

I would make the commander let decide to lock kits so they are avaiable only with permission, since he is the one with the big picture.

I say no, Eventually you are gonna get an ******* who won't grant you one. It will cause more problems then it w ill solve. If someone join your squad just to get a kit have a fellow member run em over but jump out at last second. Kills lonewolfs in .329 seconds.

I like this idea very much.
Usually SL's are people that are willing to lead the way so I say give them the opportunity to equip their squad to their own like.
This probably will encourage more lads to actually lead a squad because they can designate kits to specific people and it although should make practicing restrain from kits that you dont need in the very moment easier than it is right now.
I usually experience situations where at the very start of the map everybody grabs whatever he can get and than looks stupid once its some more time into the game where the first MBT/APC/etc shows up and all the LATs/HATs are gone. And why ? Because they got shot by small arms fire earlier on.
Making that choice only available to the SL would make a big difference !

I agree. In a perfect squad it won't make a difference, since everyone already listens to their SL and picks kits sensibly, in a less perfect situation with a stressed, distracted or just not very experienced SL it will cause lots of frustration with players screaming for needed kits with no response. It seems likely to cause more friction between squad members and SLs, and that's not really needed imo.

I think Spec Ops, Sniper, AA, and HAT should all be commander verified, assuming there is a commander.

As for other kits, I too think that it would probably just cause trouble.

If you're having a bad SL, you should switch squads or start your own. I thought this was a team-oriented game, which means you should either act according to your SL's plan or become one.

I'd be happy even if this would be a server option, I'd certainly only play on servers having it on.

I don't really get ******** squad leader argument, if your in a squad expect to follow orders, if you don't like the orders make a new squad.

That would be great. Today I saw a guy get in my squad, grab a Sniper kit and get out. But he could've created his own squad, waited some time and grabbed the very same kit. To resume, this would avoid this kind of situation too.

why the hate on snipers? im strongly against it that a 1-2 men squad cant request special kits. a sniper squad is eather 1 man or the spotting SQL + the sniper.

the commander issues kits? wrong. the commander see the tabletop game. but he cant see whats needed on the battlefield, he cant make the right decision when hes so far away from the battle.

well, crewmen and pilot kits arent affected, or are they?

and please. dont kick a sniper from your squad.. he can save your *** from far.

specs ops? huh? this kit is disignt to work alone. a large squad following a specs ops would defeat the whole purpose of this kit.

however, i agree whit the main suggestion that a infantry SQL need to verify what kit his soldier have. maybe enable it when the squad have 3 people. becouse its kinda pointless to have a sniper in a 4 men infantry squad in sunset city. but it can work on basrah or ehJOD

Never when I've played, a sniper has never done anything useful, he has never given any useful information for the squad, like a real spotter should have, in fact, he has just ran up on a fucking mountain and camped there alone waiting for some useless kills (if he even gets one).
And never when encountering a hostile sniper he has never actually been a "real" threat, unlike a fully manned squad with LMG:s, grenadiers and riflemen. Firepower ftw.


Also, think about it, a fucking crowded server with many players and a stupid camping 1-2 man sniper squad?? Waste of squad room!

What the hell? You make no sense. Have you just arrived from Battlefield 2 or something? NO KIT IS MADE TO BE A LONEWOLF. AND WHY WOULD THE SQUAD BE FOLLOWING A SPEC OP?? THE SPEC OP WOULD BE FOLLOWING THE SL, THE SQUAD.

I'm growing tired of the lonewolf kids who think it's awesome to join a squad, get the squads sniper kit, run up on a mountain and think they do something useful by sitting there and perhaps shooting at people.

I'm sorry if you find any of my text offending but you just got me raged up by your vanillanism and ignorance.

It's a good idea.
But most of the time SL's will just say what they want/need or the squad mate will ask what they should get

By talking to other people? The sniper rifle is not the kind of weapon anyone should be able to pick up, a useful sniper usually works with a spotter to spy on the enemy, this is a difficult and potentially important task, and one which requires a soldier who can talk to other squads and the commander.

Maybe HAT and other kits need to be taken in an emergency...

I know this is often the case on the US servers, or at least when I've been on it has, but this doesn't happen half as much on euro servers.

maybe kit reqest will be available at start :> ... only at start ... then sl will know who is listening his orders and he will make his own sqad (ussualy sl dont know new ppl in his sqad , so that will be a litle chance to recognise ppls)...
