Reading through some of the threads on the forums, I was reminded of a match on Muttrah City where, as the MEC, I and the squad I was in was continually and mercilessly killed by a USMC APC. The short story is that we were incapable of stopping the APC, as all four HAT and RAT kits were taken by other squads who were busy playing grab-*** back at the main base. We wound up making poor attempts at destroying the beast with AT mines and the Spec-Ops kit's demolition charges.
We failed horribly, and all our attempts to communicate with the other squads (IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!!) were met with silence.
Although there really is nothing that can be done for idiots who refuse to cooperate, I was left with an idea: Add the ability for a squad leader to request Anti-Armor support, in the same way he can request supplies or re-enforcements. It's a simple change and should help facilitate more teamwork.
Happy ending: We were finally able to grab an HAT kit and take down that APC with about 5 tickets remaining. Did I mention the APC was being one-manned the whole time?

Then why the hell didn't you just leave it alone?TheAmazingYant wrote:I and the squad I was in was continually and mercilessly killed by a USMC APC.

I bleive this feature is already in game, its call 'request support' or 'contact report'. both of them relays a location to the commander who can then inform the team.

Might as well relay it to the Loch Ness monster most of the time. The commander is more mythical than that most rounds.Teek wrote:I bleive this feature is already in game, its call 'request support' or 'contact report'. both of them relays a location to the commander who can then inform the team.
On the other hand, though, I don't think map markers will really help you if your team doesn't want to cooperate. If you don't have a commander then you have to coordinate via the chat. If you can't do that, then you lose. Simple as that.

:d uh: It was guarding the only available objective, it was that or sit in the main base!? :d uh:
:d uh: No commander :d uh:
The new step taken in .8 leads to less commander-organized gameplay, giving SL's more communication. In the lack of Squad to Squad VOIP, every available means to ease communication should be taken.
Oh yeah..

I don't think the devs mean to ease squad-squad comms to make it easier to play without a commander. Just because they castrated the commander doesn't mean they still don't want it in the game. That's why the commander has the new fancy spotting system. The solution to intersquad communication is already there.Zegel wrote: The new step taken in .8 leads to less commander-organized gameplay, giving SL's more communication. Didn't really have much a choice, trying to defend the FOP and the North City, but that's really not the point. I was just relating a situation where the current system can create some frustration.hx.bjoffe wrote:...

And I know there's the ability to request support, but that's a pretty vague request. I don't think it would hurt at all if you could specifically make the request for Anti-Armor support. Most guys who pick up the AT kits are probably itching for a target.

Sorry, that was crude of me. Not a nice gesture at all.
Still my point stands; if you can't kill it leave it.
Hurling yourself at it with engy and specops doesnt work all that well.

In that case maybe sitting in main actually would've been a better choice then continously comitting collective suicides.Zegel wrote: :d uh: It was guarding the only available objective, it was that or sit in the main base!? :d uh:
