[Question] PR Map Pack?
Have there been any talks on compiling a short list of completed maps into a map pack for download off the site?
Also...are there any completed maps yet?
(Appologies for not keeping up to date on community modding, but it was a Clan query.)

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
It would be a cool idea but most of the community maps that are actually finished are used in PR [Korengal Valley] or they are lined up to be in a community mod

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
I see. So i wonder if there are any maps available for a small map pack in the interest of veriety. I understand that these WIP maps are hopefull candidates for future PR releases. but just for talk sakes...if a server wanted to host a handfull of maps, does anyone think that would be possible/worthwhile/interesting?

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
I presume that most maps didn't make it into PR because they weren't good enough. Looking at the forum, I think alot of people would be interested in playing the discontinued maps, but weather or not you would get many on a server is another thing.

I think yes, it would be nice to give these maps some publicity.Jonny wrote:Some of the WIP maps are discontinued (Cold Dawn) so would be great candidates for something like this. I'm sure the mappers would like to see their hard work appreciated rather than forgotten.
While some of these maps mightnt be finished, that doesnt mean some of dont have potential. and server numbers are allways a constant consideration for admins. We just went through the last three months before 0.8 came out, with multipal dead servers, but when somthing interesting came around the bend, the PR population went from an average of 300 players at any given time, to 1100 players at any given time.spacemanc wrote:I presume that most maps didn't make it into PR because they weren't good enough. Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
good point, but i think all the maps that are being developed should go towards the com. factions. It's so they can have a stronger start really, and a bigger veriety of gameplay for the faction.
once those are done, id go make map packs my self!

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
oh, dont get me wrong, i wouldnt suggest compromising the surprise of anyone's creations, i wouldnt want that. My initial idea was to gather a couple of maps that a mapper is willing to give so we could expand server events and possibly host a temporary server with a short map rotation on it.

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
I was kind of hoping that Wuzhai will be released in an official PR release
I would consider let you use it, as it would be useful for testing, and I could see how the gameplay works. Wuzhai would be finished if it wasn't for 0.8

only if they're quality. i don't want to see mediocre maps just cause someone has worked on them and don't think they should be discarded... cause maybe some should.

Btw when I said discontinued maps ^ , I meant the official maps, which are no longer used. I think that there would be alot more interest in these, as they tend to be pretty high quality, but were removed due to being played too much.spacemanc wrote:I presume that most maps didn't make it into PR because they weren't good enough. Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
hell yea there has been some great maps in older versions, with the new rally system most of them would work great, would be good to see real 32 player maps again insted of full size maps and one flag in the middle and 16size maps now are even full size wots the point in them no one ever runs them big maps need tanks, choppers all that stuffspacemanc wrote:Btw when I said discontinued maps ^ , I meant the official maps, which are no longer used. Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
I see what you mean now, it could be a good thing for organizations like PR league and even for other clan events.
We could do some audits on maps like Mao valley set up for the skirmish gamemode.

Re: [QUESTION] PR Map Pack
well if its possible. anyone who wants to be involved should first...
Finish their lansdcaping to their personal standards.
And investigate server side stuff.
Im assuming these maps havnt been tested by more than a couple of people, so i wouldnt mind giving them a once over with a couple of experianced testers as well.
I think a couple of good infantry maps with the focus on street fighting...a forest map with some complicated terrain would be nice. and a map focused on armour and CAS. But anything that is offered will be accepted with open arms.
Heck, this might actually give the mapper the last pieces of information he needs to make it PR worthy. after all that, i think i can investigate a server to DL from, but thats not written in stone.
