Semi Auto in distance, burst close up. It's preeety simple.

Scotty has resolved the dilemma, case solved.

The only times I would use anything other than semi-auto at distance would be to lay down suppressive fire against multiple targets.

I almost always single instead of burst, even up close. I find that just tapping it quickly works well too.

I find tri-burst is effective even up to about 100/150m, if you have a squad.

It surpresses them 3x as much :p

But what setting do you deem safe to leave your gun on, or what do you prefer.

I prefere single shot. I can usually fire off rounds quite quick, so burst seems like im wasting ammo.

I always walk around corners on burst or full auto.. saved my virtual life many a time.

Apart from that, normally single.

Single when in the open, auto when in woods (singletapping long range shots) or in city, burst only when in close combat.

It is possible that bursts might work longrange as suggested above, haven't trained that to be honest.

I try to wonder round with auto on all the time, you NEVER know what the hell can happen. Example, yesterday I broke off from my squad inside Northbunker to head west and take out an AAV suppressing our FOB with LAT. While crossing the middle of the desert, out of nowhere some engineer in a CO truck comes at me trying to knock me down, I go prone underneath the truck and then he sees that I have an LAT so he stops to take me out with his G3 while I give him a few 3 round bursts from the hip at close range. If I was on single shot there expecting enemies at range the split seconds it would take to change would have decreased my chances of survival quite a bit in such a 50:50 encounter.

TLDR:I keep auto on all the time, switch to single when it's needed.

I have no set rules on firing but I generally don't auto with any scoped weapons except the QBZ. I mostly single shot unless I'm very close.

Always single fire, If I need to take down someone who is in my face I just click faster...while they open up with burst and miss me with every bullet.

Usually single shot unless the enemy is close or running somewhere.
Burst fires become more effective in this release for me, Ig i have an enemy running away from me Ill use single, but if he's running tword me or side to side Ill more then likely use burst/auto (depending on the faction)

Single shot most of the time, often even in CQB. I use auto for when I get trigger happy during suppressive fire, usually switching to it after expending some rounds in semi-auto mode and deciding I need to do better than that. I also use auto when engaging unarmored vehicles like technicals - if they're driving in your direction, you can aim for the driver and let the recoil carry your aim over to the gunner.

Single most of the time, switch to burst/auto when going cqb. Tbh this is something of a no brainer surely?

If I'm on brits then I'll have full auto on all the time, can still squeeze of single shots with it on and pop off two or 3 suppressing rounds when you need to

Single shot, mainly because I've accidentally missed the com rose command and fired on a friendly. :(

But if I'm in close quarters, I switch to Burst/Automatic. Can't rely on my fingers to tap too fast on the mouse nowadays. :p Or I grab the knife (sometimes EpiPen if my fingers go too fast with the adrenaline rush) to finish off the enemy.
