Re: Burst or Single fire?
Depends, with the M16 or M4 I almost never use the burst mode, but with the L85 or QBZ I almost always have the weapon set to full auto. I can single if I want/need to or let them have anything from 2 to 30 rounds in a sustained burst if not. With the G3 I use semi most of the time with full auto only at point blank. And with the AK, well, its an AK, as we don't have the option of raising it above our heads and blind firing liberian style, the only way to use it is full auto from the hip!
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Re: Burst or Single fire?
Pretty simple... When talking about the stantard assault rifles:
- Long range: Single-shot; semi automatic.
- Close range: Burst fire/Automatic.
- When giving suppressing fire at multiple enemies or firing at enemy light vehicles: Burst fire/Automatic
- Long range: Single-shot; semi automatic.
- Close range: Burst fire/Automatic.
- When giving suppressing fire at multiple enemies or firing at enemy light vehicles: Burst fire/Automatic

Tip for you all: don't suppress at long ranges with burst. The suppression effect wont be multiplied, and at least one of your bullets will land far enough away that the suppression effect won't even activate for them. One bullet per second. Thirty seconds per clip, pretty good. Keeps constant suppression, even if they have a supercomputer.

Re: Burst or Single fire?
I only use burst whil suppressed and the enemy is within 100 meters of me. Other than that, I still use single in CQB and when suppressing.

Yes, but when there are multiple enemies the situation is different. Also, I know it's not adequate to keep repeatedly pressing the left mouse button, so some pauses between the bursts given is the ideal. And another thing is that the more bullets you fire, the higher the chance you actually hit somebody!waldo_ii wrote:Tip for you all: don't suppress at long ranges with burst. Re: Burst or Single fire?
I never use burst on M16/M4, single shot and clicking fast works for me, plus burst expends too much ammo.
I do keep L85 and QBZ95 on full auto all the time and I go even further than that, if I see a long range target I just tap the mouse button and fire semi auto shots on them whilst still having full auto selected.
I even tap the SAWs since firing them on full auto means I'll be out of ammo under a minute, that's why HK21 is my favourite, it has a semi-auto option
But I always keep G3 on semi, rarely used it on full auto.

How do you change the LMG's rate of fire in 0.8 ?Outlawz wrote:that's why HK21 is my favourite, it has a semi-auto option

Like always? Just select the weapon again. Though most of them dont even have a semi fire mode. Only the HK21 iirc.
Though i almost never use semi fire with LMGs.
Everything else is on semi, except from SMG's on close range or assault rifles with full auto mode on very close range. Burst... sucks. Would be good if you could tap the mouse button and shoot 1 or 2 bullets in 3RB mode.

Re: Burst or Single fire?
I dont think its that simple at all, but some people play differently.
Full auto/Tri-burst all the time, ftw.
Even at fairly long distances, if you are good at holding recoil, you can hit effectively, full auto is effective so long as a person on your screen is bigger than 1/2 an inch (17 inch monitor at 1280x1024).
You can bring the sight up and get some pretty damn accurate full auto fire.
Besides, if you run round a corner and there is a guy there, you have very little reaction time. If you meet a guy on a hill 200/300m away, he isnt gonna get you in a few shots, you can get cover, set it to single shot and return fire.
