Com vs. Dev _ Official Feedback Thread

Post by IRONMAN »

As there is going to be some more to discuss, i think it deserve an own thread.

For me it was a great idea of the Dev team, to give the community the chance, to mess with them.

So negativ first:
I disliked:
- Server was not configured right for a "clan" war (kicking for high ping; IDLE !! ect )
- Lack of communication between the squads
- The Community team had no Commander (this is really a bad thing on PR)
- And the worst: people leaving the server so early / Come on... we didnt even played ONE map 32 vs 32 .. at the end it was 29 vs 25 ! )

Positive:
- The friendly atmosphere on the server (nice chatting)
- Squad teamwork.
- Close ending ( 0 - 24 for Devs )
- Cool coordinated attacks [Dev team did a great job rushing the docks with 3 Squads /2 Helis at one time (we where defending docks, but they just overrun us)]
[and Community Team recaptured the Docks a few minutes again with alot of firepower]

so i hope everybody enjoyed it, and we will get a rematch in time :)

I posted the SS in the:

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... m-q-4.html

(my last post there)

Anyway what I said in there, really enjoyed too bad little kids get bored
too easily nowadays.
First time playing a medic -2 rounds straight

Thanks to the ABA guys for organizing and hosting and all that attended.
I am in Vancouver, but the ping was very good (considering the distance) 150.

Only lagged for about 20 seconds on Korengal, excellent server performance otherwise.
Got a question: is the Battle Recorder file available? Maybe someone could set up a
torrent to avoid loading the server with the "same" download". I like efficiency.

edit*

stupid me forgot to look at my own screen shoot - you're in it.

Excuse me, but after getting killed for the fifth time by totally nothing I just decided it's not worth it.

Thats my fault, and there is no reason someone could not set up and command. We had reserves to fill normal ranks. I explained my reason for not being there, sorry.

And now please respect the server guys, ABA offered it. Even though I did not play, i'm happy everyone had fun. Maybe you can have another one in a few months. ;)

Have to XD after seeing the sheer amount of coordination threads for logistics etc. in the forums.

My feedback would be no amount of prior organisation/Training will do bugger all when it comes to the map it's all down to the moment and those split second reactions and if you're all focusing on what's "supposed" to happen you'll never react to what does happen

Next time, Beer, Cider, Burgers... that's all the preparation you need

I don't think there was anything negative about it.
Except the bad losers leaving after Op Barracuda.

Organisation was quite well for a thrown together team without a commander <- You'll burn in hell for that Soucy.

Oh yeah, the server config was another thing.
I think the outcome would have been much closer, most likely even different if it hadn't been in pubbie mode. In our Squad alone we lost 5 tickets on high ping kicks.
I know the server was just borrowed and it's not like losing or winning is a big deal but knowing you coulda win gives a bad feeling :D

I had great fun, knifed a SL in the back when he jumped down almost right on top of me.
And kept his squad busy for 4 minutes or so at the river under bridge.
I've run around with his kit ever since, killed about 10 guys with it even, great fun.
My best Barracuda so far.

I don't get how you managed to make a landing at north Rock with a squad there, you shoulda been blown outta the sky like at the airstrip. Hope BR can show. Whats the status on BR by the way?

Great game, wished we coulda played a real Korengal too. Not that it wasnt fun as long as i stayed but I wanted revenge :)

so it is over already? i though u were still in battle, i cant believe people were living the event, that is a little bit selfish counting the amount of people that really wanted to participate in the event, so shame on those unbelievers, a FATWA on you guys!

It was fun overall. Definately no more kick for idle, I got kicked for listening to my SL and staying on an AA gun for too long. I'd definately sign up for another event like it. And the server was good, especially since it was in Eng and didn't have bad lag for me at all (except that one time on Korengal when everybody got lag).

I had a good time. I learnt a few things too.

I dont think things were as organised as you think on the DEV side, btw. We had our fair share of communication problems and we didnt have a CO either :)
I like Baracuda alot, just seems like the US have to play it alot more carefully than the PLA though, its difficult to say what could be improved.

One thing that displeased me a great deal was to see a load of tournament players just leave together, leaving a huge void in team numbers for a second map. If they wernt going to play both rounds through, I dont think they should have signed up for the thing, as it was unfair on those that didnt get a place in the match; aswell as to those who did, but didnt get to play the other pre-arranged map as such.

GG to all; my K/D was awfully poor, the heavy price of a playing a cowering medic ;)
Again plz! KTHXBI!

I was referring to the constant all chat spam from our side with:
Yaawn,Yaawn about 20 times at least - go get a nap yawn-yawn

I suppose all who took of just got killed by "the nothing" as well ?
I noticed there were a few chopper sound bugs -maybe that's why some didn't hear the "death" touching them.
Another bummer was the "missing reserves",however some did get in for the second map -no one was bored there that's for sure.

Sadist_Cain
It wasn't organized on our side,in fact people where confused by
numerous "squad threads" which all conflicted with the personal
assignments.I was a medic too - can still use the AA  with the
medkit.7 birds with one stone - my best moment for sure

@Strima
Thanks for looking into the BR file and for "having us over" sorry
about some guests leaving earlier - I think their mom called

The only negative aspect I have is the time, I got wayy too tired after playing barracuda.

Were you in the sniper/scout squad that tried to sneak up on south rock and ran away from us? :)

Anyway for me it was mostly boring, I had only 1 real firefight, the rest was sitting around and waiting for us helo's to come by which did only happen 2 or 3 times in over 2 hours of playing... Naturally I can't say this was very fun for me, apart from Nick0 getting chased by Woolfson on the airstrip who want's to heal him

As for the leaving guys, most CATA ppl stayed, might wanna ask the NATO dudes about it - although some of em finished the round.
