Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
Ok, I was just beta testing the IDF mod (not the PR one) just to check the AK model. My suggestions are this:
Since PR is part of BSS which IDF is a part of could the AK47 from that mod be adopted for this one? The regular one not the AKS. I think the sights would be more cooperative to our cause.
THe second one is: Could the insurgents get more weapons? I think I might have asked this before, saying maybe having M16s in pickups, but this I'm thinking more of having older Israeli weapons put in kits. Forgive me if my logic is flawed but I'm finding it not much of a stretch of the imagination that FN FALs and Uzis would be all that difficult to find over there. If the G3 is also made under license over there wouldn't they be kind of prevalent also? Lastly can I have my mosin nagant back? I used to be able to take out whole squads with it. THe SMLE is terrible compared to it

I don't think it's possible unless we have something to give to the IDF team in return.
You're right, the Insurgents should have all kinds of weapons to choose from. Identifying friendly positions based on the sound of their rifles is an absurd concept for a faction of locals with whatever weapons they can find.

THat's the issue what is there that they can give back? I mean other than devoting the entire PR team to speed release of IDF I can't think of what they can do...gclark03 wrote:I don't think it's possible unless we have something to give to the IDF team in return.

give the collaborator food!
so we can eat like an apple or something while we jog down the street getting shot at because we know that the British and USMC don't CARE if it's a collaborator

Guys I'm serious, if this isn't taken seriously I'll drop the question to the IDF:FFI mod

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
Okie, well then onto the second suggestion could the weapons of the insurgents be more diversified?

Weapon diversification has been asked about many times and has always proved unpopular to the devs.

It shouldn't be that hard to do with all the stuff already ingame, the Insurgents are starting to look like a conventional military with teh standardization (like DavidP mentioned)

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
Ok lets see, this is almost set up like a conventional army, 2 main rifles, 1 gl, 1 sr, 1 mr, grenades, light vehicles, medium vehicles, C4, 1 LMG, MANPADs, RL.Dr2B Rudd wrote:they has AK, PHM, SKS, RPG, SA7, SVD, lee enfield, molotovs, AK-GP25, 50cals on technicals, bomb cars, IEDs....
Thats just it it's too organized! I see chuc said more is on the way, but honestly as it is now the Insurgency is at a disadvantage to everyone since they are outfitted like a regular army, just minus the QM. We need double barrel shotguns, a multitude of different rifles and SMGs. Yeah I said SMGs because with the closeness licensed manufacturers are to the area, it shouldn't be hard for shipments to disappear if the one in charge of the shipment is partial to the insurgency's cause. Uzis and FN FALs and other stuff Israel probably lost during the many wars there should be floating around. I used to love Insurgency, but now it's honestly not all that good.

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
I'm not such a big fan of the IDF: FFI AK-model. It's to small and thin and the texture is far from perfect.
And about the insurgents getting more weapons... Get some sources that tell us that older Israeli equipment is used by them. I think we should stick to the Kalashnikov-family and other old russkie equipment not only because of realism, but to give the team some kind of "character" with most of the soldiers using similar weapons.
But I get the idea about variety. A pickup-kit containing nothing but a FAL or M16 would be kinda lame, though. Adding variety to the insurgent machine gunner-kits (PRDs and RPKs alongside the PKM) and other assets (like having other HMGs on the Technicals, some of them being equiped with DshKs instead of Kords and so on) would be better.

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
THat was an opinion of mine, it's a common thing in war to lose weapons. And with the amount of wars in that area with Israel, they would, logically, have lost a small amount at least of small arms. THese small arms then would be circulated around black markets and between gun dealers. And insurgents don't exactly care what they have, other than if they can get ammo for it or not.STORM-Mama wrote: And about the insurgents getting more weapons... Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
Sure, I get your point. But in a game like this you probably have to generalize, go for the equipment that is used the most. In this case it's the Kalashnikov-family and other light weapons of Russian origin.DeltaFart wrote:THat was an opinion of mine, it's a common thing in war to lose weapons. And I'm not completely sure whether it's very realistic that Iraqi or Taliban insurgents would use FN FALs and/or Uzis. There is of course a chance that they might have some of these weapons in their inventory, but judging from pictures, videos, etc. they are not used that widely. At leat not widely enough to make it to the spawn-screen as the main weapon of one of the spawnable kits.
Adding pickup kits with FALs or M16 is an option, of course, but really kinda pointless. You make it to the chaches to get some heavy weapons, not a lame assault rifle that's just slightly better then the one you're already carrying.

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
It's probably not possible but I think it would be great if their was some way to give a selection of kits under the one name making it possible to pick the insurgent kit but have a random choice between 3-4 guns to spawn with. After all the insurgent don't care what they use as long as it works so they just pick up whats at hand.

Re: Different Insurgent Weapons/AK Model
Get me sources that the PPsh is used widely by any military force.
My point is that the "uncommon weapon" argument is too easily bent to be taken seriously.
What the Insurgent faction needs is weapon variety, much like the Militia.
