The older versions were fun, but not at all tactical or realistic, I remember slaying people en mass, ever game, hardly dying, never running out of ammo and moving all over the maps by my self on foot with ease. With each release, the rambo capability has been reduced, the game has been slowed down, you need others to do anything effectively ect. Which are good things, yes the style changes but you must remember again, you are playing a WIP of other peoples vision and you have had years of entertainment from it. If you have lost the love, it's time to move on I guess, but there will be someone to take your place who has found a game they have been searching for, slow, tactical, maybe even tedious, there are those who enjoy it.
PR for me is the only realistic oriented FPS worth playing, ArmA is ****, and this has bridged the gap. As far as boring, sure there are times when there isn't much going on, but there are as many if not more times where I have seen some epic things go down, just by being in the right (or wrong) place at the right time. The other day I was playing mutrah and this dude and I were running out of a building, just in time to see a little bird come into view around a corner flying tail first into the ground and explode 10 feet from us. Only to be followed by a cobra doing a rocket strafe down the same road and vapoorize some baddies who would have ambushed us, right place right time.
PR is the best combined arms game you can play ATM.

i see you're point, but i'm not just talking with USMC. I love playing conventional armies, cause they are realistic when you get a great team and stuff. Sadly they need to scale it back to make it so people will be commander now, cause now there isn't any teamwork and i actually almost got MUTINIED in .8... thats NEVER happened.
My biggest issue, and we have a thread for it already, is insurgents and militia. They aren't that tough up set in stone completely tactical group. It's supposed to be a fun group, sure there is some tactics as an insurgent, but really we just wanna go out and score us some brits or usmc, maybe a tank or 2.

I love the conventionals, dislike militia or insurgency, and for some reason the chinese don't really seem that fun either..

-new assets
-korengal
-korengal again
-al basrah and archer actually don't crash
-red dots

-doors that open
-new vehics
-slower gameplay (which as a usmc or brit or chinese i'm fine with.. insurgents ARE run and gun though... no matter what you guys say, they're SUPPOSED to be)
Don't really care's of .8
-deviation: I don't really mind it, as long as i got a red dot scope.. i'm fine
-sprint: really, i wish it came back just .3 seconds faster or so, but i'm fine with it too
-shaking weapons when standing or crouching from prone: i enjoy it sometimes, hate it others. oh well
-more people with shovels
-new engi kit: i actually use this on korengal the most really

it's an awesome kit and quite useful
-the GOOD new players: i enjoy new players, just i haven't seen that many nice/friendly ones
-blood screen: well at least it doesn't **** out my fps anymore, still freaks me out

-... the BAD kind of new player
-commander is useless
-without commander, teamwork across the entire TEAM is shot
-rally point system... destroying one is more about luck and coicidence of running in the vicinity.. really i'm sure all you have to do is have a low flying helo go across the map with a full squad, and you're good.... but i'm not sure if thats how it's coded
-insurgency has been too balanced. need more caches or SOMETHING to spread them out more.
-insurgency has too much of a punishment for being.. well, insurgent-like.
Insurgents are pretty much like noobs.
but slightly more tactical
and crappier weapons.
{I think having bad weapons is a good enough punishment sorry to say. Give the brits a vcp spawn point again or something like that. Or maybe put a base on the other side of that big river that no one really goes over to... give them some trucks and boats over their or something..}
-militia too organized as well, many of the same issues as the insurgents
-due to the usmc/brits and insurgents being on equal ground, being a usmc/brit in enemy territory is actually less scary cause you know they'll probably be doing some kind of tactical strategy.

Bad. Random strategy is a good thing for insurgents, as the usmc/brits have limited resources, they'll have to be looking everywhere for you, and prepared to see you at every corner... sadly this isn't a part of it anymore...
and i'm tired so i'm done complaining
