CQB kit

Post by The_Mediocre_OZ »

I'm proposing the removal of the scoped rifleman and exchanging it for a CQB specialist. He'd have a regular rifle, frags, smoke, shovel, knife, binocs, some field dressings, and a shotguns with buck-shot. This would probably result in the removal of the scoped rifles for most of the limited kits such as Rifleman AT. However this could be good, no more of the pseudo sniping that seems to frequently occur on city maps, harder firefights, and a up close and nasty kit for when you need to clear the enemy out of tight quarters. I realize that the lose of the scoped rifleman might piss some people off, but it would help dealing with the sniper-like quality of some of those rifles. If people couldn't live with out it, make a limited kit with that load out or a slightly better base rifle with a scope and some better accuracy like the U.S. Marines SAM-R which to my understanding is an M-16 A4 with a match-grade barrel, different stock and foregrip and superior optics. I realize that it's role maybe already filled by the Marksmen, however the marksmen is for the most part a toss of the dice when it comes to close quarters, and this could be the balancing fact.

I agree with a kit that could be better suited for it, but your realize that there already is a rifleman without the optics, right?

I know there's a standard riflemen without optics, if you wanted to keep the scoped riflemen, make the one without optics the CQB specialist.

Heaven forbid that what you point your gun at dies, but yes, the unscope rifleman would be a better choice for this kind of thing (although afaik there can be more spawnable kits on the choice menu)

but really, its not needed with the 0.8 changes to ironsights/m68s etc

Although I don't think there's a single individual trained solely in that field, I'm fairly certain there are a number of soldiers caring shotguns in combat zones. And being that the shotgun would be the highlight of the kit I don't think there should be a major objection based on realism.

Depends on the mission so you could have a "CQC Specialist". If the Army intends to do a raid they will bring shotguns for the breach team. It doesn't have to have a name it could just be a different rifleman load out designed with urban maps in mind.

He is right, though, about the CQB guys having a shotgun that can ACUTALLY KILL SOMEONE. Sorry to go off topic, but when I get right behind a insurgent and blast him with a shotgun and find out it doesn;t do anything. It makes me angry. Besides when do you ever use the shotgun for other situations?

I had to shoot an MEC dude three times with the shotgun from four feet away to kill him. He was AFK.

The Iron Sights are here for CQB. You can always choose that. And there is no CQB kit in many armies, there are CQB even the scoped kits. ;)

The tone of the OP is "waaaahhhh, I don't like getting shot at by scoped weapons because it's hard, waaaaaahhhhhh fix it on my behalf!"

Optics are here to stay and the suggestion for a dedicated CQB soldier has come up several times before.

Thread locked for resuggestion.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
