It always annoyed me that reloading is possible when running, even in vBF2. IRL I personally found reloading when walking hard enough; when jogging or running I find it pretty impossible.
The idea is to somehow prevent reloading when running. Not only is it more realistic, but I think it would help gameplay - now you can either run to cover or reload, not both at the same time in rambo style.
Actually I think reloading is already impossible when you're already running, but it does not stop if you start reloading and then start running. I suggest it should abruptly stop if you start running (like it abruptly stops if you switch weapon in the middle of reloading).

Re: Prevent Reloading While Running
Reloading does not appear to have any time when it 'does not work'.
However, Chuc's new animations originally caused many people to get screen-sickness, in a way, when they would run and reload at the same time.
Honestly, while a good suggestion, I haven't encountered too many times where it has honestly and for truely ruined a firefight. If anyone else has, feel free to beat me over the head and tell me this would be an awesome implementation.

I think that not having reloading while running is a bad idea, dont get me wrong i see what you mean but i dont really think it would make too much difference in a battle. And tbh, you dont actually have enought sprint in order to run for long distances anyway, mainly jogging...

The reloading animation could be slower, so you would take longer to reload while running. If possible, then it's a good improvement.
But removing reloading while running sounds unnecessary (to me).

Eh....I havent had to many problems with it...most of the time I see people reload before they move away from cover, not after. So like victor said it seems unnecessary at this point...

I like the idea, because I reload while sprinting a lot. Of course, it's not very realistic, but can help you get out of some sticky situations.
So yeah, if it's possible I would be in favor of eliminating the ability to reload while sprinting. It would probably piss a lot people off, though.

I can reload and sprint pretty easily so how is this unrealistic? I mean, is it really that hard to hit the magazine release then pop a new mag in while moving? One man's coordination problems isn't the rule. I can't do a back flip and throw a hatchet into somebody's face while mid flip but there are people who can.

To all those saying it's not a big issue because you never do it - well, that's just your style of playing. I find myself reloading while sprinting a lot of times, and I'm sure many others do it as well.
When changing a rifle magazine I need to open my vest pouch, get the magazine out, close the vest pouch (otherwise the other magazine there might fall, since I'm running, right?), remove the magazine from the weapon (not in all weapons it slides down easily at the push of a button), stick the new one in, secure it in place and **** the gun.
When sprinting on uneven ground I have to look at the ground and my whole body shakes. I don't see how I can do all of the above while sprinting like that, but - you know - that's just my opinion
I'm sorry, I just find it hard to believe. Maybe when changing a pistol magazine when jogging on pavement, but not changing a rifle magazine while sprinting on uneven ground.Solid Knight wrote:I can reload and sprint pretty easily so how is this unrealistic? None of that is hard even on uneven surfaces. What kind of vest do you have? Do you use a dump bag as well?Oak wrote:To all those saying it's not a big issue because you never do it - well, that's just your style of playing. Anyway, I've done it and I've done it for several years. It's not terribly difficult. Granted you're not going your top speed while doing this you can still run pretty fast. I do admit that it is somewhat awkward though. Anyway, some people can't run and grab a cup of water and drink it while running and many people can it's just coordination issues.

Re: Prevent Reloading While Running
It's not hard to reload while running. It comes down to an individual's coordination and training, basically.
Now reloading a belt-fed machine gun such as the SAW, that might be a problem while on the move.
