Yesterday I ran to a fire base with a full enemy Chinese squad there, all full auto'ing me, I still got it.

As well as a Chinese guy full autoing me point blank, he whipped out a pistol and proceeded to shoot me with that as well. In the mean time I was doing the slow as hell reload, and still managed to tri-burst him in the face, and win.


I felt like I was invincible at that moment...

You were lucky. This is common in PRv8, unfortunetely. It should have more to do with skill than luck.

This theory around here that people complain because they are new, need practice, or just plain suck is really not right at all. That is the case sometimes, but not always.

Players that play with me know I know how to be a killing machine in PR. I know how to position myself to win and I know how to outshoot most others. Even this new v.8, I'm still better than most. I was on GSA/Fools Road the other night and scored 22 kills/10 deaths, followed that up on Mestia with 28/18KDR. All with infantry weapons.
I get invites to squads from many players and clans everytime out. I'm not trying to brag or be cocky, just trying to avoid anymore, "you need practice newb" comments.

Stumbled upon this Sniper Training guide, few days ago.

Although, it is for RL sniper, I think a lot of things there can be very useful for PR snipers, or at least, cool fol reading.

I'll try it out, but I'm afraid that the problem has more to do with actual moving targets. I've fired at stationary targets at various ranges and it isn't nearly as bad.

It's not everytime either. Sometimes I drop the dude no problem, othertimes, I somehow end up missing, even though the enemy almost fills my screen. I know this happens to others too as I've been on both sides of it and thought, "wow, how did that poor ******* miss me?" LOL, then I remember it's v.8.

I had a guy run at me from about 10M out with restrainers and I turned 180* and opened fire while still in semi-auto mode while I was crouching. I fired in a panic, but was sighted centermass the whole time as he punched me unscathed thorugh no less than 5 rounds fired.

It's just luck now, and I hate that because I'm not lucky.

The min effective range for rifles is listed at 30-300M. Why in the world is it made so that Assault rifles can't hit **** under 30M. It should be easier and easier the closer you get unless the enemy is grabbing your weapon.

I've tried everything from staying crouched and trying to hit a guy who's dancing around me unloading like a madman, to being the danceing guy. The best thing seems to be Automatic fire or your knife. Well, sometimes you aren't in autofire mode or your gun doesn't have it, but it seems that it's totally unrealistic to shoot men up close, especially moving targets. A guy running at you from 10M with a knife will win many times over your semi-auto rifle fire. That's just plain dumb.

I've played plenty of paintball and fired many real guns as a huge gun freak and I know it's much easier to hit a target the closer it is. Unless I'm mistaken, it's harder at closer range in PRv8.

In a sense it is harder to shoot something closer than 100m, unless you have good hip, or just looking down the barrel aim, reason being the trajectory of the bullet actually goes up as soon as it comes out of the rifle. Thats the reason the lowest those sights go is 200m, because before 200M the bullet in some cases will actually hit above what you are aiming at. Anything closer than 100m your best bet is to just point and click.

The full auto in the game is perfect, its probably the best I've ever seen, full auto is 9/10 useless on a rifle, the only time its good is in cqc, and usually then you wont even be looking through your sights. the M249 is aso perfect, mounted its a beast, my only problem is I wish it had an ACOG or ELCAN

This explains nothing related to this topic. I own about 15 rifles and everyone of them that isn't scoped is easier to hit targets under 30M. The bullet isn't "rising" enough to make you miss anyone. we're talking about dispersion. Also, how is it that auto wepon fire actually misses quite often in PRv.8 CQB. That's not what the intent was I'm sure.

Have you ever fired from standing? Anything more than 100m you would be lucky to hit 1/5 shots, and thats firing slow, because theres so much movement in your arms and chest you have to wait for the rifle to go where you want it, rather than you point it there.

Yes I have, I was shooting at small targets at 250m while standing. I was 9/10 on small snowball shaped objects.

it IS possible to hit at this ranges, but standing it is pretty hard, for me at least .. and perhaps you are exceptionally good, but the normal soldier out there is not i would think.

No, not a shot every second, probably every 3-4, but remember that this is at longer ranges, and I did have a 2x scope. I'm not a good shot, I'm just very steady.

For me its hard to understand the new 0.8 aiming system.
I play 0.8 since the testing.

My problem is easy to discribe:

1.
I can wait 15-20 sec. for an enemy in scoped/prone position without moving(the Scope), cause i know he will come out again to advance.

If he crouches out of his hiding pos. i give one single shot down the field to his body and the bullet hits the wall about 2m beside him.

2.
my SQ moves to a next save pos., we got contact behind a wall, the enemy drops down to the ground, in the same second he starts to headshot my squad.

Some times you hit a target with the first well aimed shot, sometimes you can´t hit a target with 20 aimed shots?

I know about the 3 seconds thing but the bullets making a gloriole round the enemy, but no hit.

maybe i just suck or something, but i find this quite irritating and ridiculous, i dont know how to use a freaking rifle, but I can take out a saw or a grenadier kit and get a kill every minute.

i'll be sitting in prone, i'll see my target, wait 3 seconds, sometimes 5+ and fire a shot, i'll miss, wait, fire a second, miss, then after missing about 2-3 times i'll start to fire more rapidly once they see me. Or i'll run into someone, drop, and wont know when to shoot, how long to wait, i find often i'll see someone fire, drop and bring up sights, then at around 2 seconds in they drop, and we both fire at the same time, i miss and they get a headshot on me when they havent waited anytime at all.


2 questions, does a stance change require time to settle? if you are lying in the prone and you just bring up your sight, do you need time to settle? or is it only changed by movement and firing?

PR precision is pretty realistic for the most part. I've fired real rifles, and they seem true to their real life models.

so have I, and I disagree. These are supposed to be trained soldiers, not grandmothers, I understand what they are trying to accomplish and the mechanics the game creates, but I just find it frustrating .

But then again it is almost impossible to make it "realistic" seeing as it IS ultimately a game and there has to be a point where they draw the line. Really the devs cant win.

If they make it more accurate to represent the skill of the average soldier the complaints will be:

- To accurate! They cant fire like that when they are in a combat situation!

- What is this!? SOME SORT OF VIDEO GAME?!

Then like now when they have made it a bit more difficult to hit the target you get almost the opposite:

-They are soldiers! not cats!

-Why cant i hit anything! i steady my breathing and squeeze the trigger slowly..

Really there is a limit to how far you can go with realism in a game form seeing as the fact in a real shooting situation you control most the factors regarding the shot, where as this game the only thing you contribute to the shot is lining the pixels up on screen and clicking a mouse.
