Not a bug. Every time you switch to unsupported weapon(3 slot) the pull out animation takes place.

bah, its so annoying when people are getting close and you have to get up and do that, and by the time it finishes recocking they will be on top of you..i dont know how many times i've died having to move and not being able to shoot because of that.

I guess thats the point of it, making the SAW less effective for those situations, to promote guarding the SAW gunner or something.

Re: m249 supported to unsupported
yeah but it still doesnt make sense and isnt realistic, i mean all you have to do irl is just flip the legs up, but if you were going back and forth why even put the legs up, just leave them down and use it normally. IMO there should be no transition from supported to unsupported (or mounted/unmounted or w/e its called in game). Firing from the prone should just always be supported.Spec_Operator wrote:I guess thats the point of it, making the SAW less effective for those situations, to promote guarding the SAW gunner or something.

Re: m249 supported to unsupported
I think one of the reason the delay is fine is to foster a sense of teamwork, and some fore-thought on where you will place your machinegunner as part of a squad-attack or defence.
Can you imagine what a rambo-lone-wolf weapon this would become if the weapon was permanently set to fire in "deployed" mode whenever the user was prone. It doesn't bear thinking about.
In the past it was the habit of a lot of players to use this weapon as a primary "on-point" weapon, and not properly in support of a squads movement to close with or destroy an advancing enemy.
I have to say it is being used in my experience in 0.8 a lot better now, and i am personally glad some people have problems with it. A bunched up enemy squad on the rock point of barracuda certainly didn't appreciate it
Try advancing a squad across open ground on that beach without some very controlled and effective (i.e. deadly) fire from your support gunner. There was only one defender left by the time the rest of the squad got there.

Re: m249 supported to unsupported
the squad is actually in support of a m249, it is your main killing machine, as effective as three m16's. The minimi isnt for supressing fire, 7.62 calibres like a M60 or GPMG are.
