Super engi

Post by Psyko »

I just came up with the coolest idea ever.

I was thinking about how under used the trip flare is now and reading the other thread about deployable assets...

What if the engi carried somthing called a commander bag, that he could throw down on the ground, that within a 50 meter radius, a squad leader could build emplacements. .50, sandbags, razorwire. but only one out of the three.

Whos' the breast and why am I?

I dont think there would be an issue with spamming.

do u mean beast??? and yes there would be a problem w/ spamming b/c he could just reload his bag and go build more stuff..or just die and respawn w/ a new one

well then let it be one emplacement per squad. Couldnt have it by lives because you could just kill the SL or Engi over and over to get new emplacements. also, another way of stopping spam is to only have an allowance of assets within a certain location. Dont knock it till you try it...Nearly every gameplay dynamic in PR has irritating consequences, but the outcome is justified by a positive desired effect.
[EG: i place .50 cal, it could squish a squad member...BUT I GET TO KILL PEOPLE :D ]

Eng needs to be worked on, but I don't personally think this is a good idea. 50 cals, sandbags and razors should only be near fire bases.

really? why? every time a firebase is destroyed the assets are left behind, and its up to the players to destroy them, same rules apply. plus, the assets give away the position of firebases, so why not complicate it a little more?

Good point, but i´ve never seen Infantry squads carrying a .50 cal or a couple of Sandbags in their bags. You should be able to place them when a truck is near.

Yeah, that was my point. People don't just carry that kind of stuff around.

i think it's fine as it is. you can choke areas with barbed wire from a firebase anyway. don't see why you'd want to place them all over.

I agree, engineers dont carry a .50 cal, or a magical bag with the .50 cal in it.

Of course a .50 cal might survive when the FB is destroyed, but if a real position was destroyed, a gun placed near it could still stand there too. But it wont just appear out of nothing.

BUT

Sandbags are a totaly different thing. They could represent any kind of improvised cover and would be more realistic.

well, naturally you wouldnt be placing 80 .50s, im talking about putting a weapon slot to good use in a tactical way. and its not really good enough as is, because people keep getting shot in the back while building firebases...having a .50 placed by a squad in a good location would make for yet another flanking opertunity.

Sounds suspiciously like a heavy machine gunner kit...
