The Javelin would be a nice addition to maps with alot of MBTs (Steel Thunder, El Alamein XXL)

Man, the FGM-148 Javelin missile is fkin bomb dude...this is in no way fake. Plus, its hitting the top of the tank and boom, everything flamable or explosive in that thing goes up in seconds. I've seen footage of this in Iraq hitting the side of the building, and it took out half of it with smoke twice the size of the wall it hit, incredible. Anybody in there must have been blown into ground chuck.

I've heard that that t-72 was filled with explosives for show, but thats beside the point. Even without an explosion of that size everyone inside would have been killed and the tank would be unsalvagable. Javelins defeat any modern MBT.

I do believe they hit the target but I do not believe it would have done the kind of damage shown in the video. I have heard they filled the tank w/ something flamable like gasoline and HE to make it blow up bigger and to make a big fireball.

That explosion is way to big for an impact of a man-carried missile.

Compare it to the impact of an modern artitllery shell - you'll see that even those won't produce an fiery blast as this one.

I suspect they loaded some spare TNT into the turret and driver compartment and topped it with 5 litres of gas... otherwise the detonation would be 'just boring grey'

Beside that... what kind of guidance do they use for this ? laser marking or self seeking (heat/radar) ?

I heard the same, still... I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of that thing.

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/javelin/ - Well here's wha these guys have to say about it:
MISSILE

The Javelin system consists of the CLU and the round. The CLU, with a carry weight of 6.4kg, incorporates a passive target acquisition and fire control unit with an integrated day sight and a thermal imaging sight. The sight uses DRS Technologies second-generation thermal imaging technology, based on the Standard Advanced Dewar Assembly (SADA IIIA). The company also provides the quieter, dual-opposed piston coolers for the sight. The gunner's controls for the missile system are on the CLU. The day sight is equipped with x 4 magnification and the night sight with x 4 and x 9 magnification optics.

The round consists of the Javelin missile and the ATK (Alliant Techsystems) Launch Tube Assembly. The range of the missile is 2,500m. Javelin is a fire-and-forget missile with lock-on before launch and automatic self-guidance. The missile is equipped with an imaging infrared seeker which is based on a cadmium mercury telluride (CdHgTe) 64 x 64 staring focal plane array in the 8 to 12 micron waveband. BAE Systems Avionics is providing the infrared seekers for the British Army's missiles. The tandem warhead is fitted with two shaped charges: a precursor warhead to initiate explosive reactive armour and a main warhead to penetrate base armour. The propulsion system is a two-stage solid propellant design which provides a minimum smoke soft launch.
Check-out the 'Operation' section after this part, on the website. Pretty cool stuff.
