4 Seats in Abrams
Okay, well, after noticing that an Abrams has 4 seats, I've decided to post this idea. A lot of squads need to bring their squad leader along for a ride in an Abrams, but they can't, because they don't want to risk losing him in the gun for one. This is where the Tank Commander comes in. I'm suggesting that you add a fourth seat, either second gunner, inside, or exposed and unarmed to the Abrams. A tank usually consists of a Tank Commander, Gunner, Driver and Loader. Although I suspect the turret on top of the tank is used in replace of the loader, maybe you could add a fourth seat inside the tank to fit a tank commander, who can see through windows of some sort, sort of like an APC. Just a suggestion to add more realism.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
you will get flamed so much, man, for this resuggestion
Basically it takes away from an already low amount of players. 3 to a tank works now because there usually is 2 tanks a map. YOu can have one squad be the armor and have magnificant coordination. Having a 4th player to make a tank effective would reduce the squads ability and coordination.
If the player limit is upped and squad size upped I can see this being a possibility, but since I doubt it will happen so will this

Yeah, sadly with limitations such as 6 people per squad, and only 32 player teams, this would take too many people away from the front lines and put them in tanks. It's been suggested before, just search 'tank commander' or something similar.

Well if you do something like this you need to make sure its not just for 1 army.master of the templars wrote:well he has only read that the Abrams has more people in real life.

Upgrade the .50 to a CROWS to solve the problem.

Make or obtain a model and add the CROWs. You can have the slots there. It doesn't obligate people to fill them. Most people don't even use the .50 on the tank anyway.

the only model that could be used is the USI one I guess but I think its in its 1991 configuration , but if its so easy to make a Abrams I'd offer the job to you...Solid Knight wrote:Make or obtain a model and add the CROWs. In RGG we use the 50 cal all the time, its great to have a enginer sitting there if you ever get hit.Solid Knight wrote:Most people don't even use the .50 on the tank anyway.

Did I claim that it was going to be easy?
There is another reason for having the CROWS on the tank. Hardly anyone mans the .50 simply because once the tank engages armor or anti-tank they will die quickly. It's a death trap up there.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
Personally, when i'm SL, I have 2 tanks in my squad, I'm officer, one guy is engineer and the rest crewmen, all slots used, all members contributing to the squad, I spot for the tanks/aircraft and set a rally point just in case, engineer keeps the paint looking nice on the tanks, and the crewmen...crewSpaz wrote:In RGG we use the 50 cal all the time, its great to have a enginer sitting there if you ever get hit.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
I think the best think would be to give crewman a wrench to work on their tanks with (since they usuaully are the ones heavily trained in infield repairs) and use the USI tank model (It isn't all that off from the current standards) and put a crows on it. THat way everyone is peachy keen. I also think you shouldn't be able to be in a tank unless you are a crewman, because honestly, when does an engineer from the ground pounders end up commanding a tank from the 50?

Nobody said that making an Abrams is easy, but was making the Challenger any easier?
It can be done, if someone is willing to do it.
In the meantime, what is there to talk about?

not a good comparison, the PR mod was made partly to make a British team, it would be incomplete without the Challengergclark03 wrote:Nobody said that making an Abrams is easy, but was making the Challenger any easier?

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
Sure, the Abrams is a lower priority for the United States, but I doubt that it's any easier to model perfectly than the Challenger was.
Anyway, let's say that we do have a brand-new PR Abrams model to work with. How will this fourth seat improve tank gameplay enough to compensate for the loss of the extra player from other parts of the battlefield?

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
Well, it'll allow extra players to move to the higher priority area of the battlefield in E2KP1 and also allow important members of a squad to come along, such as the squad leader to quickly set up a rally point for one, with a lower chance of getting killed. Basically, I would really mark the fourth seat as a seat for VERY important members of the squad, so that that person wouldn't have to risk dying as easily as a gunner, catch my drift?gclark03 wrote:Sure, the Abrams is a lower priority for the United States, but I doubt that it's any easier to model perfectly than the Challenger was.

Having an accurate portrayal of a vehicle.
You have a driver, a gunner, the CROWS gunner and another guy up top on a M240 or MK19.
