IN all repsects Solid, I dont think the loader wants to get out of his nice little cubby hole to gun ANYTHING and with the way tanks are used ingame the loader is too busy LOADING then MGing

It's a shame that the real world design of the tank disagrees.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
Shame yes I realize that a loader can fire an M240 or Mk19 from the turret of the beast, but ingame we have a lack of people as it is. We can't afford a forth man for the tanks. Maybe if this 114 bussiness works out we could do that. Hell this entire mod would be rebuilt from the bottom up! But right now 3 is all that can be given to the tanks.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
Again there is no obligation for having a fully manned tank. How many times do you see hummers, tanks, and APCs with only a driver and a gunner? I see it all the time. The idea is to have an accurate model of the machine and to provide a bit of utility to the vehicle. I seriously doubt people will be in a hurry to man a M240 on top of a tank but it will be there if you want to. Leave the tactics up to the players.

Think about all the blue mobs that will jump in when your going out of main and saying take me to the other main base so I can 1337 the command post O.o

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
And they are free to jump out when/if you don't want to. Or you could limit those positions to certain kit types.
For example:
driver: crewman
gunner: crewman
CROWS .50: crewman, squadleader, engineer
M240: crewman, squadleader, engineer
This would sufficiently prevent that from happening as I don't see too many people running around as engineer without supporting a vehicle or driving a supply truck and I doubt squadleaders are going to roam around in someone else's tank.
Or you could limit those positions to members of the same squad like they do for the driver and gunner already. Yet again that potential problem is solved.

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
If they could just up the amount of people I'd be so happy to have 4 man tanks but I'm still being nagged by this issue
How can you have the loader shooting his Machine Gun at the same time he's loading the tank?

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
much debate surrounds this topic. I say its a good idea to have an extra seat. (noticed all the guys at the main waiting for stuff? give them a job imo) The extra seat doesnt have to do anything important. But it would be nice to have the option. My engi has to jump out before we engage so he doesnt get blasted off the fifty and that slows down gameplay. People say, there will be people hitching a lift with the tank crew....no sir, there wont! lol, do you really think a tank with the advantage of an extra seat is going to waste it? and if at first people were to use it for hitching lifts they would soon realise that the tank is not going into the ideal circumstances for what they want to do. IE: sniper on kashan jumps into extra seat, where does he think hes going to go? do you think the driver wants him there? also, its simple. the gunner cant turn the gun efficiently to make for good spotting, the driver can only look in one direction at a time, a tank commander with officer kit would be amasing for lasing targets and spotting. simply put all problems could be solved by one simple alteration...only give access to squad leaders in the seat, and crewmen on all other seats(if possible). i really didnt get the math on this one guys, i couldnt see why people thought one seat in 4 tanks would hinder gameplay so much. If it were up to me i wouldnt let anyone with a special kit into my tank. it would be 2xcrewmen, 1xengineer, 1xofficer. Otherwise its another squad without an officer, which has been proven to be quite a hinderance. its communism i tell ja! oh and if any of you guys are thinking the squad leader would be setting rallys along the way, ask yourself...WHY THE HECK WOULD HE DO THAT!?

Squad lock Tanks like you squad locked aircraft. I know I was an opponent of this idea before but force same squad for the .50 and the fourth seat and you won't have a problem with people trying to hitch rides.

So basically, first person in the tank that belongs to the squad owns the tank until he leaves, and only he and squad members can enter it?Tirak wrote:Squad lock Tanks like you squad locked aircraft. Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
I'd prefer it if only the .50 cal and the 4th seat were linked, as then you'd be able to use a system like TS to keep multiple squads together, I.E. A tank squad filled with crewman manning 3 tanks and a support squad, which would provide 3 engies riding along in the tanks, but yeah, you've got the gist of it.Rapier wrote:So basically, first person in the tank that belongs to the squad owns the tank until he leaves, and only he and squad members can enter it?

Hmmm...Psycho makes good points. I wonder if any1 would hate the idea of moving the driver's position back down below the main gun? as his 50gunner/4th position camera can keep an eye out?

Re: 4 Seats in Abrams
I realize alot of you guys are thinking this would be a great idea, but think about this logically and gameplay wise:
Logically: The way tanks are used ingame, the loader has no time to jump onto his little seat to use the 240 then jump down and reload then jump up again. Alot of situations I've seen the tank is pumping them otu as fast as they can. Id think the loader would just say ef this I'm sitting down in the tank to reload.
Gameplay wise: We only have 32 players a team. Most maps at most have only 2 tanks. Each squad has 6 players max. Each tank now requires 3 players to fully outfit it. Right now it works as is. Just leave it eb guys. It works the two tanks can fully coordinate and Everyone is happy. I have never had a need to say Hey I could use another guy on my tank to gun.

It's not about having an extra gun, that's totally aside from the originally idea. The thread obviously derailed somewhere. Just a single seat inside (like the APC or something), or exposed (lets say like the AA gun passenger/spotter seat exposed). That's all I'm really suggesting.DeltaFart wrote:I realize alot of you guys are thinking this would be a great idea, but think about this logically and gameplay wise:

Yes!!! The times I've been driving a tank and the gunner yells "stop, stop, stop" when he wants to line up a shot, we've all noticed how the tank can continue to slide, wobble etc...Rapier wrote:It's not about having an extra gun, that's totally aside from the originally idea. If there was another empty seat, the driver can hit F4, then F1 again, resulting in the tank stopping as it should, maybe...
I know your suggestion is to add more realism but it could also help to reslove this issue if the 4th seat isn't taken.
